1 edit | reply to Pathfinder Pathfinder,
I'm having similar issues to those that you had. When you say, "Oh well. It works even though it hosed the wireless settings. I redid them and all is fine now." How did you go about redoing them? I'd like to "redo" mine to get my situation fixed.
My update has also misidentified devices, such as showing StaticIP for two of them, when they are actually DHCP. My one computer connected by Ethernet is identified as "Connection Unknown." In addition, one device is shown as Disabled, when none are disabled. I have a separate post further down (not far) that gives additional details.
Like you, I'm not seeing any problems from all this. I'd just like the information to be displayed accurately.

| reply to brugar WARNING!!!
IF YOUR 327W doesn't have the Verizon decals on it, THIS IS A WARNING NOT to apply the update......I have a 327w with the Westell Decals and decided to try the update on Verizon's website. Now the last update (model numbers matching) I got from Verizon went without any hitch....And the process for this update went without any hiccups...
After the update as I was surfing the net I noticed that I was getting disconnected from the wireless router.....At first I thought that this was because of my crappy transceiver stats (which although low could still hold a connection)....After this happened numerous times, I decided to check the router to see what was going on...This is when I saw that the router was rebooting every 3 minutes or so....After numerous tries to reset (soft and hard-reset)...I have basically decided to give up on the router and just get a new one....So now basically, my 327w is stuck in a reboot loop and I have no physical or software way of resetting the router...Partial (Internet for 3 minutes) BRICK......
Maybe I am the only one with this problem....But just goes to show....As for me, I'm probably just going to try to get my hands on an 6100 and get a real wireless router....Oh well.. |

I do have version 3.02.01 of the firmware for B90-327W15 modem. I have successfully downgraded from the new one and it seems to have no problems. I do not know about getting the file to anyone interested.
Only problems I had with the new firmware was with the wireless, but doing a reset of the westell 327w everything seemed to work (if you didn't count the disconnects). |

| said by Bullet2k4 :is it safe to upgrade the firmware to this?any problems? Doesn't really seem to be any major issues with it. It's the same firmware Verizon has been shipping with it's newer modems for a while now. The interface has totally changed, but there is no documentation to go with it. So you're pretty much on you're own figuring out where everything is. Even Verizon support isn't familiar with it. Until I see some documentation, or I'm the last to use the old firmware, I'm sticking with what I have and know. |

| reply to brugar I called tech support the other night to help setting up my wife's notebook. We had a problem, actually it was on my end - forgot to turn the WiFi switch on for her notebook. Anyways he had me download the new firmware and like others I wasn't able to get either Vista or XP Pro to recognize the file.
I came across this thread last night while trying to trouble shoot my speed (having crappy slow speed) and followed instructions given to update the router.
As of this morning, no problems....and I sort of like the new look. |

| reply to Pathfinder said by Pathfinder :It seems to have a problem viewing the network. ... It won't even show the station's name. My findings indicate that connection type is detcted as 'Unknown' for computers with firewalled incoming Echo ICMP requests. I think Windows XP is by default set up to not allow incoming Echo requests. Here's what worked for me: 1. Login to Windows as administrator (i.e. make sure you have administrative rights) 2. Go to Control Panel -> Windows Firewall -> Advanced tab and click 'Settings' button for ICMP 3. Check 'Allow incoming echo request' and click OK couple of times to close out the dialogs.
Hopefully this'll do the trick for you. At any rate, this helped me to get the new firmware see my network correctly.
I noticed that if new firmware can't detect connection type it seems to assume IP allocation as 'Static IP'. The other thing is that offline devices are still displayed, but I'm guessing this is due to DHCP server lease settings (by default 1 day?). |
