Anyone know for sure if version 4.04.03.00 for the Westell 327w D90 was the exact last firmware before this newest one (4.4.3)? With this newest version I didnt see an option to temporarily disconnect, enter your info again & reconnect, and all that good stuff.

Yes, the version in the westell link Bullet2k4 See Profile posted for 6100 firmware is 4.04.03.00 and the transceiver version is 7 something.
Does anyone still have access to this link? I get a error whenever I try to visit Bullet's link and the one verizon has up seems outdated in comparison. If there is indeed a 4.04.03.00 for my firmware then I am outdated.

For me, I'm using a wired connection. But I wouldn't think it would matter, since it is the DSL connection that dies, not the Ethernet connection. I can still hit the modem/router just fine, it just says that the status is "pending" and "not ready for Internet access".

What I did notice was that you can now choose WPA2 under wi-fi security (put the radio button on WPA, then click the word "WPA" and you can choose WPA2 there). Anyway, I tried it out, and I think I will stick with the previous 3.2.1 firmware. Aside from the different look (which I'm ambivalent about; the drop-down menus of the old interface allowed me to access some of the advanced settings with far fewer clicks), nothing new was added. The two new features that I had hoped for the most--static DHCP (which is easy to implement and is standard on just about any other router) and allowing for an override of the DNS settings even if DHCP is used for the WAN (to bypass that bloody annoying and invasive wildcard that Verzion arrogantly decided to stick in the root zone file of its default DNS servers)--are not present. And the removal of the help pages is a minor inconvenience, too.

Has anyone found a compelling reason to upgrade? (in case I missed something in the simulator) What about stability? Normally, my router can run smoothly for 1-2 months without rebooting, but if I do anything that involves a large number of connections (e.g., ed2k or BitTorrent), the router would crash and self-reset every few days, or sometimes even every few hours. Anyone know if there are improvements in stability under load in this new FW? We should always trust our instincts. My instinct told me there was going to be a problem with that firmware.

I'm happy to report, btw, that simply running the previous firmware .exe file was enough to revert it. I was afraid that might not be the case.

But once again, all is quiet on the software firewall front.
It may not be the ideal situation, but it's one that I'm happy with and will live with.

I just realized a bit ago there is suddenly constant incoming traffic to my machine. My software firewall is now blinking constantly also-- there is a ton of traffic constantly coming in and being logged from 192.168.1.1. This is why everything is blinking.

There's a 404 error on the Westell page now (the earlier link), with no firmware or .pdf's available.

I went ahead and tossed caution to the wind, though, and now have this blinking light situation, which I must admit I don't care for in the least.

I'll be going into the modem options, selecting 'upgrade the device', and pointing it to the 'local' .upg file I downloaded.
