Re: Windstream DSL Package Prices

yeah, its a great deal. The service works great, its cheap, and its better than land line quality for me. My family uses around 2000 minutes a month on it. I have an "unlimited" plan, but it basically breaks down to around 5700 minutes a month i think. It has tons of features. A free "2nd" line is included, so like whenever you get a beep, if you have a phone hooked up to the 2nd line, it will ring to that, or you can click over on line 1. Also if your on line 1, and someone needs to use the phone, just pick up line 2 and dial out. Still the same number and everything, its sweeet.
Realizing this thread is a bit dated .. but, how'd you put together such a package? Your VOIP is with WS? Can someone keep WS DSL without maintaining WS phone service?

Having never had DSL prior, I'm really behind the curve on how VOIP works. Does the hardware require a networking setup .. or does it just get fed the DSL signal? Or what?

i pay 29.95 for 1.5/384 greenstreak dsl. I use VOIP phone and pay 9 dollars a month for that
Oh yeah, that is excellent Tim. I looked into VOIP. My wife logs more minutes with her mom, sisters, friends and would be in violation of ever TOS I read. She uses about 4000 minutes a month of phone time, a lot of LD. I don't consider Vonage good enough deal to include it which I think has either no or generous minutes per month. Her dial tone is as much her recreation as DSL to me when I am not working on server or websites. My second phone I do use mainly for business is dirty cheap bundled.

But for modest phone use, your system is what I would use living alone, not running a business out of house, no doubt!

A few factors and if you look at WS pages they are filled with disclaimers to confirm to yourself what I say.

1) There are special prices for new customers.
2) Disclaimer for your location
3) In general you save $5 a month for every bundled service your add.

Here is my example here in North Florida, excluding any specials for new service.

3/384 is normally $34.95, bundled it's $29.95

There are also "secret" bundles so ask a LOT of questions, take 30 min to an hour to go over what is possible for you with WS sales. For example I found out that by adding Connect Unlimited to my primary phone, my second line was $10 with 3 good features and got free long distance, a huge savings. Add into that the first line was now "free" included in the connect unlimited calling plan.

Or you may find Greenstreak and get VOIP from another carrier as a better deal. I think but not sure that your plan would go to $39.95 on Greenstreak, but you dump your regular phone. Local calls are all 10 cents a minute, but 911 and 800 calls are included, and you can use a calling card over a GreenStreak phone. (comes with 3/384 at that price).

To answer your question $34.95 is the average WS price for unbundled service with a regular phone.

So if you really curious, sharpen a pencil, grab a pad and call WS. You could very well end up with more features for the same money or an totally different plan as suggested above.

I was just curious as to what people are paying for their DSL service.

I have had Windstream/Alltel service for 2+ years and currently have the 3/384 residential service. My cost is $34.95/month. Is this correct?

I called Windstream customer service today and the rep said that the prices listed on their website were for bundled services (with tv..etc).

I didn't see that listed there and was just curious if I could get the 24.99 price, so I called. Never hurts to ask I guess.
