<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/0"><b>anon</b></A> : Resolved the DWL-G650 issue when I realized the cpu load was linked to the wireless channel used.<br>Channel 11 - 80% Cpu load<br>Channel 6 - 40% Cpu load<br>Channel 1 - 3% Cpu load<br><br>Is that a normal behavior for PCMCIA Wifi cards or is it specific to this card?<br><br>Back yo my originals questions, what settings should I change  to improve the wireless signal quality and is there any Firewall or security settings I should change?]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/0"><b>anon</b></A> : Not sure what was wrong with the Tomato firmware but upgrading to dd-wrt.v23 SP2 solved most my issues.<br><br>DHCP is now working and the DWL-G650 cpu load decreased to 15% in 802.11g using WPA2-PSK.<br>Any idea what settings I could change to further decrease the cpu load?<br><br>Also do I need to set up static ip for port forwarding?]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/0"><b>anon</b></A> : Thanks noping, I was using WEP but I will move to WPA2-PSK.<br><br>I had originally setup the ethernet adapters to obtain IP and DNS automatically, but while the local network worked fine I wasn't able to connect to internet without entering the actual  DNS servers.<br><br>Also I have a problem with the wireless settings, my laptop DWL-G650 use 80% cpu when the WRT54GL wireless is set to 802.11g or mixed. Using no security, WEP or WPA makes no difference.<br>Updating the DWL-G650 to the latest atheros driver also made no difference.<br>If I set the WRT54GL wireless to 802.11b cpu usage then comes back to normal.<br>Note that this is only occurring with the WRT54GL, the DI-624 was set to 802.11g and I never add any issue with the DWL-G650. ]]></description>

You can check to see that it is by opening a command prompt and typing "nslookup google.com".<br><br><div class="bquote">Security wise is there any default settings that needs to be modified?</div>WPA2-PSK, or the highest grade of encryption available on your wireless devices. MAC address filtering is a bad security practice (virtually useless).]]></description>

<description><![CDATA[<A HREF="/useremail/u/0"><b>anon</b></A> : Just replaced a DI-624 (I was fed up with the constant rebooting) with a WRT54GL.<br><br>I would appreciate some help with some of the settings.<br><br>First rather than using the actual DNS server addresses in the ethernet adpaters TCP/IP properties, I would like to use the WRT54GL ip instead.<br>But if I use the WRT54GL address I loose the internet connection.<br>Is there a setting I need to change in Tomato?<br><br>Second what settings do you recommend for the wireless?<br>I understand it possible to boost the signal strength a bit, with the DI-624 the signal has always be inconsistent.<br><br>Security wise is there any default settings that needs to be modified?<br>I am using static DHCP and Wireless filter to only accept the laptop mac address.]]></description>
