new modem

I decided to ditch my land line and sign up with Vonage.

I looked over their list of modems that are not ideal for use with the service and my sb4300 was listed.

I exchanged my modem for a Scientific Atlanta box. Before I took the old one out I did a speed test.

Old results

4934 Kbps Down
362 Kbps Up

New results

14505 Kbps Down
2233 Kbps Up

I am not exactly what you would call a computer expert, but how in the world is that possible with just a new modem?

 Chances are good your old modem was not capable/registered for Powerboost. Your post-Powerboost speeds are probably similar, but who knows.
