If it's anything like Adelphia, you'll stay on 15/1.5, or maybe go to 16/1 or 16/2.

Seriously, at first, you won't see much of a change because, well, not much has changed. You are currently running through the same network equipment that you using before. The same routes through the same routers.
Eventually, that equipment will be 'assimilated' into the Borg, er... Comcast network. It will be renamed, given IP addresses from the Comcast block, and added to the Comcast network routing.
Once that happens, you will likely see IP addresses in the Comcast range (ie. 76.19...), assigned a Comcast DNS server (if you do that automatically), and, eventually, you'll receive an email telling how to transition your email to your new Comcastic email account. -- New to Forum Life? | The only thing that I see that's changed is the information on channel 1 (I think that's a local access channel). I powered off my STB, powered back up, and channel 1 now says "Welcome to Comcast. Your Insight service is now Comcast. Please check your mail in the upcoming weeks for more information."
I'm still listed as dhcp.insightbb.com as well, though I have yet to reboot my modem.

| As long as the connection is solid and my speeds stay the same. I honestly could care less whose name things are under. Just figured we might see some evidence of the switch. Or even have a bit of down time do to the transition. Hopefully that last part won't be the case. -- Test PC Security Cable Diagnostics Blog ZoneAlarm Help Vista x64 Comcast BroadVox Direct | |

| So far the first day on Comcrap sucks @ss, a mere coincident maybe.....maybe not. Today was the first day I had to reboot my Modem and Router in 6-8 months.
My real world download speeds are the worst they've been since before Insight went to 10.0. I aways get 1,100-1,200 K/sec, today out of the blue I'm only getting 450-500 K/sec.
Just a weird coincident..... it better be.

| Being from Springfield, this is my first day for Comcast myself. I can see nothing good coming from this change. Reading the mainstream news reports about the company's blocking traffic through rather dubious means and wading through 20+ pages of rants here about the bandwidth police, makes me very apprehensive. This is at least in part because it appears to be quite arbitrary whether you are targeted or not. Springfield DOES have alternatives, though none are very good AFAIK.
Question - How far do I need to move to get FOIS?

| Re: Yup, it's Comcast now I'm originally from the beason/lincoln/clinton/forsyth area myself, and personally i'd liek to see my parents in Aregenta get Comcast. They actually have the money to get the optics going out that way, digital service may actually come to them.
Can't remember if they had Insight, or the other one... media something.
Slowness, and intermittant service will probably happen every so often as they work on it. They will be replacing hardware/software, also they will be getting the CMTS ready for DOCSIS 3.0. Also upgrading outdated hardware could also cause you problems.
Give it a few months. | |

1 edit | Re: Yup, it's Comcast now The past few days I actually saw a mix of advertisements for both companies. The cable box logo etc seems to still be the same. My internet connection seems to still be using the Insight pipe etc. Trucks and other signage may take a bit to show up. Several articles on the subject have stated this.
There is now a message on my cable box that states that our Insight is now Comcast. This wasn't there earlier. -- Test PC Security Cable Diagnostics Blog ZoneAlarm Help Vista x64 Comcast BroadVox Direct

| Re: Yup, it's Comcast now Just FYI- You guys DO realize that it will take months for everything to transition over, right?
Way back in the day when Comcast took over my "at that time" Adelphia area, it was almost a full 11 months for the complete change.

| Re: Yup, it's Comcast now Matt, you have to remember that most of these guys from Insight, have higher expectations, then those parties that have been with Comcast for sometime. Even myself, I use commonsense to think things through, and only if I cannot get the answer on my own, or want a 2nd opinion, then I choose to openly discuss it.
Myself personally, as long as my cable service is active when I turn on the TV, or my phone still works, or my Internet is still running, then no worries.
