Both my insightbb.com and comcast.net e-mail addresses are working normally (for now). |

No your insightbb email address will be active until at least the end of August |

| reply to INTENS1 Just got my change over notice (not the "invitation", yet).
I'm concerned about one thing and I cannot find the answer to it in the FAQ, so I thought I'd ask here first...
In order to change my e-mail address on some of my accounts, for example ebay.com, I have to have the use of *both* addresses - old and new.
I'm concerned that the change over process will be instantaneous - that is, when I create my new address at comcast.net then the old address at insightbb.com will be deactivated right away.
In reality, the old address needs to stay active for a period of time so people can be notified and accounts can be changed without missing anything important, and so that security procedures can be followed (e.g. ebay).
So, does anyone know if this is how it works?
And, if not, then what do I do about it?
Thanks! |

| reply to iamcool2 The way things are now, I believe it could be happening real soon. My channels are all screwed, I am getting channels I didn't subscribe to, and the ones I did subscribe to I'm not getting. Most of the time I have a complete channel black out where nothing is available. So far my Internet connection has been without incident. |

| reply to iamcool2 I see that you in Indy area have been having problems with with Insight. I'm not sure that you'd want to switch over to Comcast's network quite yet though. Although I think a majority of people have had a problem-free switchover, our speeds don't yet seem to be what they should be. I think speed tests can be deceiving. Personally I have not even come close to achieving the download speeds I had while on Insight. Add to those problems another few hundred thousand people and I think we're talking about disaster. When I do traceroutes, I see that we in Central IL are being routed through Indy, then Chicago. I think this is ass-backwards. |

| reply to Force21 I have not had any problems logging into SSL sites. As for the bandwidth, did have problems with Apple.com, but have not tried with iTunes store yet.
I am using Vista Basic & IE7 with Avast as the A/V. You may want to flush your firewall settings to corrospond with the new info, and try doing a reboot of the Router & Modem just to be safe, if you have not done so already. |

| reply to Greg_Z Well Comcast is really starting to get me peeved. First, it is the decreased bandwidth speed. Now I can't login to any secured websites so currently I'm unable to pay any of my bills or check my bank balances. I had to resort to using my snail EDGE data on my cell phone to get things done. Also randomly half the time now I can't connect to any websites at all. The status bar in Firefox will keep displaying "sending" or "waiting" without any progress. Seems like there are some routing problems going on with the network. I started a troubleshoot ticket with Comcast but who knows how long it'll take to get things fixed. |

3 edits | reply to Greg_Z I'm not understanding you sir. How can 65 Mbps or greater be possible ?? One's cable modem is tuned to a single downstream channel.. Anyone else on that channel has to share 38 Mbps of available download bandwidth which lessens throughput even more.
Many nodes only have a single downstream channel, some may have two, but they are never bonded. This is DOCSIS 1.1 not 3.0 |
|
Greg_Z Premium join:2001-08-08 Springfield, IL | reply to EG And how many users are aprx. on the Node? Take that into account with the tests that your are running. |
|
EG The wings of love Premium join:2006-11-18 Union, NJ 1 edit | reply to Greg_Z A single 6 MHz wide, 256 QAM modulated downstream cable channel is only capable of a 38 Mbps bandwidth. |
