Comcast is using all new equipment
If comcast just changed the programing of the routers over to their ip's and routing tables the old network wouldn't still be up and able to be trace-routed to.
This is also why a few of you are experiencing a slowdown since the switchover, |

This is also why a few of you are experiencing a slowdown since the switchover, When Adelphia was transitioned, their existing routers were eventually renamed to reflect the acquisition. Essentially you will be using the same network after the transition, but will see the routers renamed. -- Write me up a 125.......I Can't Drive 55 »redrocker.com/ »cabowabo.com/ |

| reply to INTENS1 Well, I've yet to see speeds over 10mb/s
Could it have anything to do with having an RCA modem(BCM425 IIRC, too lazy to flip it over and look)?
I've noticed the SB modems seem to be the most popular modems. I gave my friend my Surfboard to my friend cuz it would always hang up when connecting and had the RCA modem which I had bought off eBay.
Should I maybe look into purchasing a SB? It seems the best config with Comcast includes a Surfboard modem. |

@perfora.net | If the modem worked fine with insight it should work with comcast.
As others have said, give comcast some time to straighten the network out.
This is a 100% brand new Network |

This is a 100% brand new Network By that comment do you mean that it is a "100%" newly *aquired* network, or that the network consists of 100% brand new hardware ?
I believe that clarification is justified, necessary, and will be helpful here due to previous posts in this thread |

@perfora.net | 100% brand new hardware,
Last i heard The old network was still up and running with two or three business class dedicated fiber clients on it yet, |

| reply to INTENS1 I just switched from insight to comcast not my choice of course but so far the service is terrible especially the Customer service they put you on hold for ever and a day and never solve my problems and I am only getting speeds of 4megs on speed test compare to my old isp of 10 this really sucks I hate Insight for selling out. |

People in IL should see very different tracerts now since they are on Comcast's CRAN. All the equipment is indeed new which is inline with what Comcast has done in the past with acquisitions.
Boot file issues may crop up as the speed tiers for Ex Insight customers are special and not in use anywhere else on the network. |

2 edits | New equipment?
Adelphia was already revamped in most of its markets. We were DOCSIS 2.0 when acquired and had 16/2 in some. Comcast didn't need to do any mass equipment changes for most of us. Only the more rural areas were in need of update. -- Write me up a 125.......I Can't Drive 55 »redrocker.com/ »cabowabo.com/ |

| reply to Unhappy What test site are you using? Are you doing any downloads at the time? Have you tried testing without your Router in the mix? There are a number of variables involved as getting a perfect test.
Yesterday, I was getting 8/500(true), which is around where it should be. And this was running tests from speakeasy.net. Today it is showing more along the lines of Blast with the test from Chicago on Speakeasy.net.
It really depends on the time of date, and test site. Think of it like driving during Rush hour in Chicago, or anytime on the Tollways. |

Seeing fluctuations with GrabIt that I never used to prior to the transition. At first it was going at 300kb/s but I closed Azureus and then it went up to about 1100kb/s but now it's been sporadic. Sigh. |
