You will actually be switching off of the Insight network and onto the Comcast network. All different equipment. Its not just a name change. I don't buy that statement. In my area Comcast already owned half of Insight to start with, they just redid the network when we went to 10/1 service. Why would they change all of it?
said by Greg_Z :There was no equipment change whatsoever. Only thing that changed was the programming of the router tables to reflect the new info, along with server software. This I believe, till someone proves different. |

| You can think what you want, but nothing has changed other then the Routing tables, and the software. All of the other hardwared stayed in place, and same for the personnel.
BTW, just because Comcast & Insight where hand in hand, does not mean that Comcast told Insight what to do, and how to do it. |

The Entire Illinois network would also have been switched all at once if this was the case and i believe all the areas were switched over a 3 day period |

| You can ping any network. Insight is still online, and can be pinged, due to the company was not bought out, only certain markets changed ownership. Think of it like taking a Cable modem, and you have Company A & Company B coming into your house. At anytime, you can connect your modem to A or B, depending on what you want to do. Your modem can be registered with either company, but your modem will only route with which ever company that the modem is connected with on that line.
Now, if Company A comes along, and buys a percent of Company B's clients, Company B is still online, but now you are with A. You can still ping Company B's servers, but your routing is going through A. Same thing has happened with those clients that where with Insight in select markets, and are now with Comcast, due to they purchased those markets, and the clients are routing through their network & services. |

3 edits | I'm not understanding you sir. How can 65 Mbps or greater be possible ?? One's cable modem is tuned to a single downstream channel.. Anyone else on that channel has to share 38 Mbps of available download bandwidth which lessens throughput even more.
Many nodes only have a single downstream channel, some may have two, but they are never bonded. This is DOCSIS 1.1 not 3.0 |

| It's not accurate. Those speed tests are flaky.
Here's one I had a while back:

| reply to Greg_Z Well Comcast is really starting to get me peeved. First, it is the decreased bandwidth speed. Now I can't login to any secured websites so currently I'm unable to pay any of my bills or check my bank balances. I had to resort to using my snail EDGE data on my cell phone to get things done. Also randomly half the time now I can't connect to any websites at all. The status bar in Firefox will keep displaying "sending" or "waiting" without any progress. Seems like there are some routing problems going on with the network. I started a troubleshoot ticket with Comcast but who knows how long it'll take to get things fixed. |

| reply to Force21 I have not had any problems logging into SSL sites. As for the bandwidth, did have problems with Apple.com, but have not tried with iTunes store yet.
I am using Vista Basic & IE7 with Avast as the A/V. You may want to flush your firewall settings to corrospond with the new info, and try doing a reboot of the Router & Modem just to be safe, if you have not done so already. |
