Insight to Comcast Customer Transition, over here!

As one of many Insight customers who are now Comcast as of 1/1/08, I just wanted to say hello. As far as any immediate changes, Comcast is saying nothing will change for now...I guess we shall see. Anyway, here's wishing you all a very Happy New Year.

Edit: Currently, I'm paying $80 per month for 15/1.5

Mod Edit: Changed title, so everyone can find the topic. ~sorto'

Re: Yup, it's Comcast now

Welcome!

If it's anything like Adelphia, you'll stay on 15/1.5, or maybe go to 16/1 or 16/2.

I am coming over from insight as well, hopefully Comcast does not mess with my 10/1 basic internet. I liked our old forum better, bunch of strangers here and it smells like soup.

Even with a hard reboot of my modem I'm still listed as dhcp.insightbb.com. Looks as if the switch to the darkside has taken a vacation for a day do to the holiday. Television content and logo have yet to change on the cable box as well.

Yep, I'm officially on Comcast too. Time will tell whether or not I will remain a "happy" customer.

If it is anything like the Adelphia transition, it will take a few months to be assimilated.

I guess we're in a kind of ISP limbo....a connection without a real home.

The only thing that I see that's changed is the information on channel 1 (I think that's a local access channel). I powered off my STB, powered back up, and channel 1 now says "Welcome to Comcast. Your Insight service is now Comcast. Please check your mail in the upcoming weeks for more information."

I'm still listed as dhcp.insightbb.com as well, though I have yet to reboot my modem.

As long as the connection is solid and my speeds stay the same. I honestly could care less whose name things are under. Just figured we might see some evidence of the switch. Or even have a bit of down time do to the transition. Hopefully that last part won't be the case.

So far the first day on Comcrap sucks @ss, a mere coincident maybe.....maybe not. Today was the first day I had to reboot my Modem and Router in 6-8 months.

My real world download speeds are the worst they've been since before Insight went to 10.0. I aways get 1,100-1,200 K/sec, today out of the blue I'm only getting 450-500 K/sec.

Just a weird coincident..... it better be.

Being from Springfield, this is my first day for Comcast myself. I can see nothing good coming from this change. Reading the mainstream news reports about the company's blocking traffic through rather dubious means and wading through 20+ pages of rants here about the bandwidth police, makes me very apprehensive. This is at least in part because it appears to be quite arbitrary whether you are targeted or not.
Springfield DOES have alternatives, though none are very good AFAIK.

Question - How far do I need to move to get FOIS?
