Re: Yup, it's Comcast now

Even with a hard reboot of my modem I'm still listed as dhcp.insightbb.com. Looks as if the switch to the darkside has taken a vacation for a day do to the holiday. Television content and logo have yet to change on the cable box as well.

If it is anything like the Adelphia transition, it will take a few months to be assimilated.

I guess we're in a kind of ISP limbo....a connection without a real home.

The only thing that I see that's changed is the information on channel 1 (I think that's a local access channel). I powered off my STB, powered back up, and channel 1 now says "Welcome to Comcast. Your Insight service is now Comcast. Please check your mail in the upcoming weeks for more information."

I'm still listed as dhcp.insightbb.com as well, though I have yet to reboot my modem.

Sounds like we're becoming part of the Borg collective!

"We are Comcast.. you will be assimilated. Resistance is futile."

Anyways, I'm here too now. I'm going to miss Insight, but hopefully when they assume (or switch) our backbone and everything else over, they don't muck everything up.

Maybe if they do start mucking stuff up, Verizon will finally start offering 7M/768K to new customers by then....

Edit: Still getting decent speeds... its going to take them a little while to mess.. switch things over.

But you are... but you are...

Seriously, at first, you won't see much of a change because, well, not much has changed. You are currently running through the same network equipment that you using before. The same routes through the same routers.

Eventually, that equipment will be 'assimilated' into the Borg, er... Comcast network. It will be renamed, given IP addresses from the Comcast block, and added to the Comcast network routing.

Once that happens, you will likely see IP addresses in the Comcast range (ie. 76.19...), assigned a Comcast DNS server (if you do that automatically), and, eventually, you'll receive an email telling how to transition your email to your new Comcastic email account.
