Verizon Fios and FTP

Happy New Year all.

I have tried many FTP server PROGRAMS (blackmoon, Serv-U) and none have seemed to work. I've found out last week that fios has been blocking port 21. I have tried to use another port (lets say 21021) and thats not working either. Does anyone have any advice as to what is a real good (and easy) ftp server that i can use thats out right now.

thanks and have a good day.

I use FileZilla Server. It's free and open source.

My port 21 works fine when I download or upload to FTP. Have you forwarded the ports if your connected to a router ?

Hey willdoe,

I was using Serv-U and worked perfectly OK.

Port 21 was indeed blocked, so I used 2121. Just make sure port-forwarding is set up correctly. You most likely know this but sometimes we overlook certain problems.

Change the port on Serv-u to 2121, make sure you are port-forwarding correctly on the router, and when you try to access your server from outside, make sure you do so correctly (IPAddress:2121).

Other than that I don't know.

Thanks for all your help.

I got the FTP server up and running. Now i am getting an ftp folder error message:

An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP Server. Make sure you have permission to access that folder.

Details: The Operation Timed out.

I looked this up but nothing is working. What am I missing.
