[All] In Memoriam, papaw38829Some sad news to impart...our forum has lost one of our own, a good friend, sometime right after Christmas. papaw38829 has left us lots of memories...and smiles...and a legacy. I, will miss him dearly Our hearts are sending sincerest condolences to mamaw & family.
We thought of you today, and that is nothing new. We thought about you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence. We often speak your name. We have our strongest memories... Though now it's not the same Your memory is our keepsake, with which we'll never part. God has you in his keeping...
We have you in our heart.

I'm not even sure what to say here.
Without going into all the history, when I modded this forum way back when, his story telling was not unlike our very own Garrison Keller or Lewis Grizzard, probably more the later since he always had that certain southern insight and innocence in all his yarns.
I'll gladly lift a drink, and toast; Here's hoping you left this world with as many good memories as you left behind.
I'm sure he did.

He was a natural story teller, no doubt, and that was a talent. He shone a bright light in here and always left people smiling.
You'll be missed Pawpaw. Heartfelt condolences to your family and friends. |

I knew when I had not heard from papaw since the 15th of December that something was not quite right....He has been a friend on this forum since he began posting all of his stories way back when...papaw had been an engineer with NASA during the initial moon missions, thus the theme for his avatar ...He was there for me when my Dad died a few years ago and I can not tell you what his and mamaws words meant to me during that time....
I never met papaw in person, but he was a person that I enjoyed knowing through our IMing one another over the past few years....IMs that I looked forward to receiving....Although we had not IMed a great deal in the past few months, I had sent he and mamaw a Christmas and New Years wish, of which there was no response. The last few IMs we shared, he had informed me that he was getting a new pacemaker and a new computer...probably a Dell, he said....
papaw was a combat veteran of WWII seeing action in the European Theatre, part of an artillery sounding company. He relayed several interesting stories as his encounters with the enemy was up close and personal....
papaw's stories also included his childhood and growing up..we continued to request more and more stories as they were always so good....he said he was going to print them off and give them to his family....
As stated, he was an engineer whose work included working with NASA, the Moon Mission and beyond....if you ever saw those large rocket ground transport vehicles.....that was part of papaw's creation.
I can tell that he loved mamaw, and his family...from the stories, I know he loved his Mom and Dad, his Country, nature and music....
papaw is a hero in my heart...thank you for the life that you lived and all that you did...
....I miss you papaw, God Bless...Ts & Ps forever!!!!
May God Bless your family and mamaw and give them strength...

This is really sad. I enjoyed talking to him and reading his stories a whole lot. He seemed like a wise and caring person who loved his family and his life. I will truly miss him and will hopefully always cherish the wisdom and memories he passed on to me and others. The good ones always die young and to soon. |

I spent a few days reviewing old IM's...and posts, reminiscing. Always shone thru, always a bright positive outlook...what a friend! ...and if there was one thing that stood out over everything else..was what was stated above. Lot's of caring..loads of wisdom...(and humor) Just an all around wonderful man. |

I just saw this topic - another WWII vet and gallant gentleman with a sense of history, family and community is gone. He leaves behind a family that I'm sure will always be comforted and inspired by his life and contributions.
I hope others can fall in behind him to continue such values and traditions. |
