Not everyone has the money to pay for the extra premium service which is exactly what you have, and you are showing results off of. Thank you for pointing out nothing. The fact still remains - 384kbps upload which is what is offered on most of the basic package RR connections is nowhere near enough. As the majority of the customers have aforementioned pitiful upstream bandwidth, the video mail probably didn't catch on as it probably would have overall been like watching a slideshow.

On top of this, even with the marginal upgrade to 512kbps in many areas - it's still not nearly enough. Having massive downstream is fairly useless if you don't have the upload to back it up. Sure, getting that porno faster is definatly nice; but I only need a porno a day anyways.

My county is not in Maine. The speeds they deign to offer you in Verizon territory are irrelevant here (and most other places outside Verizon territory). The fastest speed they offer in the entire state of NC is 8000/512. They said I could get that a year ago, but after ordering it, it provisioned at 4500/384.

Just for grins, I just went through the speed test results on this site. The fastest RR customer in my entire county tests at 7200/400, and the fastest one in my zip code is 4700/350, so I guess now they are letting my neighbors have 5000/384 (provisioned) at the premium 8000/512 price.

The fact that someone two towns away on the same cable system can get faster download tells me they are provisioning speeds by area to keep QoS at a certain level while avoiding equipment upgrades.

On the competition's side, we hear Embarq will offer us the same speed you have by the end of this month, and this goes for all Embarq customers with the capability everywhere, not just the ones in areas with fast competition. And out here in RR forsaken land, in a place Verizon would never wire for DSL much less FiOS, I have the capability.

You have to admit, you'd rather have 3000 Downstream and 384 up, instead of 384 down and 3000 up. I have no idea why people would want to send video messages, I see these ancient people posting video replies to 12 year old kids "on the youtubes", and neither of them seems to have any idea of where they are or how to work their machine.

Sure, I love having fast upload as much as anyone else, so I don't have to wait 4 hours to send a file to someone, but massive downstream is nowhere near useless. Tell me it's useless next time you open a page and dont have to wait for the 5 mb of images to load like when we were all on dial up. Or next time you're downloading a 500 mb patch for your latest program.
