Actually that's a good question, But i would like to see a more stable 10/1 package first, Before i upgrade. Case in point.. |

Most likely it will be rolled out in midwest market first since that is Charter home turf.
I'm on the list to get called when its available here. I was told "call back near end of January" when i called last month if they don't call me first. |

yea it is ever since they built 2 new apartments on my street the internet here has been real bad, sad part though it's half of Burbank from what i had heard. my sis who lives near me about 2 miles or less has speed issues too. all Charter wants to do is roll a truck out. pfft half of Burbank is jacked not just me. |

Sounds like our town. Idk if its related or not but until charter started making changes to our T.v channels my internet sucked. Once they did that it started working perfeclty. I get about 4950/70 down and about 490 up consisantly on my line now. |

Speedtest.net is not the greatest site to judge speeds. And surely you can't expect charter to support that. |

what is a better speed test site, and why isn't speedtest.net a good one? |

newserverguy, i use others as well i used that one for the forum tag it provides. i also use these for speeds tests. » nitro.ucsc.edu/ - kind of like sudoreg's post but closer to me then Illinois. and this one. » www.speedguide.net/speedtest/All of which normally shows just about the same speeds when i run tests. |

Ok, this is frustrating: I just got back from the Health Fair(Charter sponsors it) and the business rep for Charter said she did not expect 16meg soon in the Metro St. Louis area. When I pressed her on what she meant by soon, she said at least not in the next 6 months. I am hoping she just does not know what she was talking about. |

I am sure she doesn't, thats how Charter does business, the left leg never knows what the right leg is doing. |

Rumoured roll out for Midwest is Late 2nd early 3rd Quarter 2008. Keep in mind this is subject to change and is not official. |

Well, I talked to Charter Corporations about another problem I had and he told me they have to make sure everything works before they begin the rollout. However, he told me the package prices are almost in affect. He lowered my 10 meg price to 5 meg price (said he wasn't supposed to yet, but he did.) still getting 10 meg though. But once it kicks in I will have to upgrade to 16 meg. He said in my area Carson City, NV it should be within a month or 2 because he can see the package prices already.
Hope this helps. By the way, I WANT MY 16 MEG!!!! LOL |

I was quoted from a Charter Tech gal in Wisconsin center the new package pricing for my zip code about one month ago. At the moment "no change" |

We don't even have 5MB service yet. I was told back in October by a tech that we would get it in November. Then they said Dec, when I called in Dec the rep told me that all 3MB service was going away the first of the year and everyone would be at 5MB. I called after the 1st, now it's February. The funny thing is when I went to the local office a couple of weeks ago the girl said maybe we would be getting it in April, how's that for customer service? So in conclusion, GOOD LUCK with the 16MB service!! |

said by kommander:what is a better speed test site, and why isn't speedtest.net a good one? The key is to try at least two (or even three) sites that are usually not overrun with tests if you suspect an issue with your line. I don't think any single speed test is 100% valid 365-24/7. I've seen some issues with my line not being fully there lately during busy hours as well but it's always above 5mbps. speedtest.charter.com speakeasy.net/speedtest Basically you want to test on-network if you can and that will likely yield more consistent results than off-network site testing even if the Charter site is far away, for example. |

speedtests are lame.. go connect to a ftp from a fast server and upload and download large files. Then you will see the actual speed your getting. Also try several known good servers and see what your results are. |
