NormanS : What flushing your DNS cache does is to force your local DNS resolver to go back to the DNS server to resolve IP addresses.

In your post with the trace route, and the "40ms to Dallas" comment, I keyed on the name of your first hop, "m0015963df91d.chcg.il.comcast.net [73.4.4.1]", and mistakenly placed you in Chicago.
helter : As far as the internet goes 7 and -7 are the same. However as far as TV signal goes you just screwed the pooch.

What exactly did you do to change that or did you misread the -7 as +7 initially?

Either you have a freaky situation which is killing downstream only or you just removed a bidirectional 10db amp?

Wait were you routing it through a power strip or something?

that said your levels are within an acceptable range for internet on both posts. You are running a wireless router, sometimes you get interference on these and you need to change the broadcast channel in the router config, I had to move mine to 11 recently after moving it from the default 6 to 3 and having more packet loss.
