Re: AntiVirus Poll 2008

Antivir for free, NOD32 for pay. Not much changed from last year here.

Avast on my desktop. I just got a new laptop and unfortunately it came with NIS installed. I will let it go through the rest of the trial subscription and then switch to Avast.

Avast! Home on 4 computers. Very pleased with it.

edit: I switched to avast! on all computers in December 2006 and have had absolutely no problems with it.

Norton 360 on two computers.

NOD32 v.3.0.621.0 on another.

No significant issues with either product. When March comes around, will probably use Norton 360 or NIS 2008 on all three.

On my new Dell Laptop It's AVG. Even though all I do is play games on it, it just seems wrong to have Windows running without some kind of anti-virus.

For questionable files, I always use virustotal.com and jotti.org. Great for files under 10mb you want to double check!

Avast! (free version) on both my desktop and my laptop. Have also installed it on my daughter's and my sister's desktops. Highly recommend it!

None. Just uninstalled CA EZ antivirus because it started with the nag screens to renew 35 days out. That is completely ridiculous. Nag screens on a paid and licensed product. HorseS---!!

I oftentimes suffer from 'AV sampling mode' as I try out other AVs to see how they've improved since the last time I installed them. Then, I settle down with one for a while.

Currently running Symantec Corp. 10 which is supplied free of charge from my employer.

Thanks for the poll Hutch.

After going thru all the big names I use AVG Pro now.
Most trouble free, lightest and carefree av I've used.
It does the job for me.

Presently using Avast Free on XP Desktop, XP Laptop and Vista laptop in our household. Have used McAfee, Norton, CA, Antivir and AVG. Prefer Avast - it's reliable, easy to configure and to set to autoupdate (daily or even hourly if desired) plus any impact on the operating systems seems to be minimal...

NAV2006 on 3 desktop comps, NAV2008 on the laptop (AV only application). Will move to NAV2008 on the desktops soon.

I use AVG Free Edition because it's easy to use and keep updated. I've been using it for probably about 4 years or so.

Avast Pro on my working computer and nod32 v.3 on my home computer.
Me too.
However thinking of swithing to AntiVir: »www.free-av.com/ as there detection rates are now far exceeding Avasts and MANY other AV vendors alike.

I started using Avira free last January. Then I moved to Personal Premium. Currently, I am a beta tester for Avira Premium Security Suite. I like Avira better than any AV I've used in a long time and I hope to have some positive influence on ver 8 beta.
