Re: AntiVirus Poll 2008

I use Avast free home addition for last 3 years on my computers and my parents. I briefly tried MCAfee free from comcast 1 year ago, and wound up with a trojan, so went back to avast. I love it and love the small foot print it uses and free daily updates.

Been using Avira Antivir Personal Edition Premium (that's a mouthful) for over a year. Decided on that one after seeing its scores on av-comparatives and other sites.

Downloaded the AVG Pro that was making the rounds in the Hot Deals forum, but haven't actually installed it.

I'm still using Zone Alarm, Zone Alarm Security suite to be exact. Were I to change, I would go back to Avast, having tried it some many months ago, but ZASS and my layered approach has served me well.

Starting November I find Avast! to be the best anti-virus program ever.

NAV Corporate 10.1.7.7

The is a huge difference between the Corporate, even in stand-alone configuration, vs. the bloated consumer versions.

The Norton 2007-2008 consumer anti-virus is relatively bloat free now. The 2007-2008 versions are light on computer resources and runs lighter then NAV Corporate now.

For those turned off on bloated pre 2007 versions, should trial the 2008 version. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Now....I'm not the most biggest fan of Norton AntiVirus what so ever and had some doubts about whether the original poster of the above quoted text was bluffing when he stated that the 2007-2008 versions of it are light on computer resources and runs lighter than NAV Corporate now. So I decided to download a trial version of Norton AntiVirus 2008 from the website and I must say, he is not lieng, they have indeed gotten better with their scanning engine and the program does use less research. I'm still not convinced though that Norton is the best choice and would highly recommend NOD32 as a first choice. Norton is getting close though in terms of performance compared to NOD32. Just wanted to make a response to that poster. That's all. I normally use AVG AntiVirus Free by the way for my regular AntiVirus just for the record but decided to try out Norton to see what that guy/girls post was about.

Also just for the record, I should proof read my posts after doing a spell check and before posting them.

System performance is VERY important to me. I use AVG Pro on my laptop and Avast Home on 2 desktops..

I tried McAfee by Comcast and it was okay but I want ONLY AN AV and that thing had a tendency to try to take over the whole computer LOL..

I must say although I am not crazy about how AVG works, it is a VERY Smooth and light AV...
