| modest overclock on Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 System Specifications:
Antec Solo case, one 120mm fan in back on low speed setting
SeaSonic 500W PSU, one 80mm fan in back
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550, G0 stepping made in Costa Rica
Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L revision 2.0 with latest BIOS F7
A-Data DDR2 800 [2 x (2 x 1GB)] ==> 4GB total, all runs on dual channel
Used stock heatsink/fan with factory thermal paste located on HSF, after reading reviews saying stock was a pain to install, but it was very easy after following the illustrated instructions from the Intel manual. All it takes is to follow step by step...
Stock settings:
Both cores at 2.33GHz with 1333MHz FSB (4 x 333MHz)
Memory at 800MHz (2.4 x 333MHz) @ stock timings
Overclocked settings:
Both cores at 2.80GHz with 1600Mhz FSB (4 x 400MHz)
Memory still at 800MHz (2 x 400MHz) and at stock timings
CPU temps range from ~22 degrees Celsius {idle} to ~40 degrees Celsius {under full load}
Also undervolted, yet still stable & cooler, the cpu to 1.13750V (stock 1.35V) cannot get any lower though computer will just BSOD
CPU-Z says 1.104V while idle and 1.072V under full load ?Vdrop?Vdroop?
I made sure to lock the PCI-Express freq. to 100MHz to protect my graphics card
One question though... I though I set RAM voltage to 1.8V, but I see it is closer to 1.9V?
Notice all Intel power saving/thermal protection settings are still enabled so it idles at 2400MHz (6x multiplier)
SmartFan has been disabled to allow the fan to run full speed, while it is barely audible from 1ft away
Room temp is around 65 degrees Fahrenheit/18 degrees Celsius ... it is winter though 
Running Windows XP x64 so I run 64-bit Prime95
Ran stable for ~12hrs overnight yesterday
I plan on running it for over 24hrs sometime and if it fails I'll just notch the core voltage up by one step.
Easy 20% overclock on stock items, computer still so dang quiet.
Pretty much now I have a system that is faster and cooler than stock, just wanted to share my experiences.

Now for a little fun and since somebody asked. Max overclock on stock voltage of 1.35 V.
I was able to reach 3.43 GHz stable, but unfortunately my stock cooling cannot handle the heat, letting temperatures reach 60 degrees Celsius.
Of course, this will not be my daily overclock.
The computer has been updated with a new SATA DVD burner - SAMSUNG SH-S203N and a new power supply - 430 W SeaSonic M12II SS-430GM, being modular is very nice and uses a quiet 120mm fan. The HSF has also been reseated with AS5 thermal paste and after proper curing, temperatures drops are around 1-3 degrees Celsius compared to the stock thermal paste Intel used.
The old (still very new) DVD burner and power supply will be used to upgrade my mother's Pentium 4 desktop.
