| If I remember correctly, hnfapmon doesn't like Vista's clocks. Try removing the clock in the Task Bar and if you have one, a clock in the SideBar. Try going into hnFAPMon's Control Panel and Stop/Start the Service to see if that helps. -- hn7000s home plan| signal 87 | SatMex5 | 117 West | Vista laptop 3GB ram | XP 1GB ram | Ubuntu Dapper 512MB ram | Firefox only | ZyXEL router |

| reply to millham rx and tx values constantly remain at zero
This thread has been very helpful to me, many times. Thanks to all who have answered questions!
This time, I seem to have something a little different, though.
The symptom is that the rx and tx values continue to be constantly zero. That usually occurs when the command number is wrong for the current software release. Mine is 5.6.1.35, since August 2008. But, lest I mislead anybody, I just got a new pc with Vista, and I've reinstalled hnfapmon due to that. I went to the advanced configuration, and hovered over the PEP summary, and I can see in my status bar that the command number should be 71, so I added a line for 5.6.1.35 similar to the others, with the command set to 71. That usually does the trick, but not this time.
Does anybody have a tip for me? |

| Right-click on Notepad in the start menu then click 'Run as Administrator'. Then click file->open and find the pm file you want to edit. When you don't run Notepad as Administrator, it's actually saving the file to [your user folder]/AppData/Local/VirtualStore/Program Files/hnFAPMon (AppData is a hidden folder). When you run Notepad as Administrator, it's saving it to your real Program Files folder, which is where the hnFAPMon Service looks since it's running as Administrator. |

| This post was really helpful to me, being a Vista newbie. Thanks! It didn't actually solve my problem, but it taught me some valuable information. No, this time it was "a loose nut behind the keyboard" that was causing all the problems. I was editing the wrong .pm file. doh! |

| reply to millham Re: Lets create an FAQ for hnFAPMon
Is there a separate thread somewhere for multiple computers? I want to know what happens with the hnFAPmon readings if the server computer is turned off while a client is in use and later turned back on. Are the readings then in error? Put another way, does the server computer have to be on whenever a client is running in order to maintain correct hnFAPmon readings? |

| reply to millham Can anyone provide a complete, universal explanation on what the following fap.ini settings should be? That is, account for Standard and Savings Time, Zulu/Grennwhich, and various time zones? Twice a year I have to spend an hour figuring this out. I'm sure others would like to know an easy way to make the proper corrections.

Download those files 2 above you.
Go to start, run, type in... C:\Program Files\hnFAPMon
Replace your existing fap.ini with the one you just downloaded.
Open ModemDefs folder... Your modem is a HN7000S right? anyways... Binary, I have same problem as mickeyw. adding the new files to the hnfapmon folder didn't help. Still no RX TX movement, actually no movement. hnFAPMon doesn't seem to be registering any activity. | reply to millham hnFAPmon fix - software update
Hughes' new software update (5.8.0.49) has caused hnFAPmon to stop working. To fix this, go to C:\Program Files\hnFAPmon\ModemDefs
Open the .pm file that matches your modem;
under the line that begins with default add this new line
'5.8.0.49' => '/cgi/execAdvCom.bin?Command=75',
Save the change, then stop and restart hnFAPmon service. |

| reply to millham It seems that HnFAPMon needs the latest firmware version in the .def file, and a number after it, as in
'5.6.1.35' => '/cgi/execAdvCom.bin?Command=71'
How do I find out what those numbers are for my HN7000S? I'm not getting any TX or RX info when it runs... |
