UglyDorkPremium join:2002-01-09 Buffalo, NY | Help on installing Water Filter Filter | | Faucet (Red Square) |
Since the pregnant wife now thinks our water tastes like dirt she purchased a PUR Vertical Water filter.
The weight of the filter causes the end piece on our Gooseneck faucet to rotate on it's side, thus causing the water to come out at a bad angle.
Short of purchasing a new faucet, is there something I can do to prevent this end piece from rotating?
Here are pictures of the filter and a faucet similar to ours.
Thanks |

Orient the filter so that it sticks out at you.
It will look ugly and the wife will return it and buy a Britta pitcher. |

KenPremium,MVM join:2003-06-16 Brownsburg, IN | reply to UglyDork Does the end of the faucet rotate like that on purpose? Is it a threaded fitting, or is that one of those pullout sprayers? If it's just a loose threaded fitting I would put a little dab of thread locker on it at the end of the threads farthest away from the water. -- Business: MerrittConstruction.com | Personal: KenMerritt.com | Xbox Live:KENMERRITT COM |

I really didn't want to purchase a new faucet as I plan on getting a new counter top/sink/back splash later this year but I'm sick of wasting time and money on cases of bottled water. |

It's not a pull out sprayer, just a stupid design I guess. I assume it's designed like that on purpose. It is a threaded fit. |

I had a faucet that did rotate so you could "direct" the water a little bit... Needless to say, the PUR filter (just like the one shown) would *not* work. The weight of it caused the end of the faucet to rotate around. |

I just called her and stayed on the phone while she tasted it for the first time and to my relief she liked it. |

JahntassaWhat, I can have feathersPremium join:2006-04-14 Conway, SC kudos:4 | reply to UglyDork I went with the under-sink filter instead of the on-faucet. The on-faucet really impacts water flow (Through the filter, not with the filter off) and those things are like $30 just for the filter..
But yeah, I had that kind of faucet in one place, the end twists so you can 'direct' the water to the sides, for whatever reason. |

AmmlerPremium join:2005-04-19 Pittsburgh, PA | reply to UglyDork We have the exact same faucet. We also have a portable dish washer and when we connect the hoses to it, the weight of the whole unit turns the faucet slightly to an angle. No big deal to us, as the hoses keep it from turning sideways. I do use the "swivel" head when washing items that don't fit in the dish washer. I just line them up in the sink and just swivel the head as needed. |

UglyDorkPremium join:2002-01-09 Buffalo, NY | reply to Jahntassa Yes, there is a huge water flow impact and it's no longer 'instant off' as water still drips from the filter.
This was done more so to appease my wife. I didn't want to spend allot because soon I want to replace the counter top, get a new flush mount sink with under cabinet filter and soap dispenser.
But until we get that, I didn't want to keep purchasing two cases of water a week.
This filter does but some added weight to the neck of the faucet too, but I think it will survive. |

It's fine as long as the faucet is cold.. as soon as you turn on the hot water the stupid filter starts rotating around. I hadn't thought to rotate the filter to the front.. Guess I know what I'm doing tonight. |

 | reply to UglyDork I hate to say it, but if that was my wife I would tell her to shut-up and drink the water before I put that ugly filter thing on it that spins around like a Farris wheel.
Then again, upon reflection, that may be why I'm not married. |
