[DVR] Have a few questions about direct tv

Hello to all,

I have been using a DVR From Direct Tv for over a year now, and the first 12 months was free so it was nice but for the last four months DTV wants extra money for the DVR. now my question is this, I have seen people selling TIVO's on ebay(and other forsale forums and with this being said if I was to decide to ditch DirectTV DVR BOX can I still use A TIVO BOX (rewinding and recording shows?) with the regular DirectTv service?

I do like to use it with certain shows but I dont think its worth it since my family( or my self) done use it all of the time

any input will be greatly appreciated, thanks

Used to be the monthly cost of Tivo service was more then the DirecTV monthly DVR price. Has this change?

Re: [DVR] Have a few questions about direct tv

what I was asking is if I was to buy a tivo box off of ebay(or simular) would I be able to use it(with my direct tv card) instead of direct tv DVR box and not have to pay them the extra $ every month?

I would say no. You would have to pay them a fee.

you'd have to pay the DVR fee of $9.99 unless its part of your programming package.

You'd also have to pay the mirroring fee of $4.99 per receiver.
