After a certain point, cold is just F'king cold and I think we've reached that point. Of course add in the wind and you have a different story but its still cold. Im back in Champaign and not only is it cold but its been windy for quite a few days. I tell you, walking to class into the wind is brutal. -- Serenity Day - June 23rd 2006. | EHHHHH - now listen here younguns, and I'll tell ye about the Winter of 79, when it snowed so much and got so cold we done went and gave the mayor the boot, or January of 77, when the AVERAGE temperature was 10, and it stayed below 15 for 32 straight days.
Yep, them thar was the days when it got rilly cold, before this here new-fangled global warming trend.
Yep, you pups got it good, with your modeeern polar fleece boots and spats, and heaters inside them thar car seats.
Back in 77 we had to light kerosene fires inside our VW bugs fer heat and sleep with our dogs on top of us.
Shoot - these here balmy January days ain't nuttin compeered to what us old farts had to endure.
Especially the galoshes - boots that were designed to leak and conduct as much cold as possible through to your feet.

| reply to Jon Is the suburban road net finally so overcrowded all the time, that every time the weather really tanks it's like the last straw?
I mean, it's bad out there, but not extraordinary from late January. -- Illegitimati non carborundum
