| Velcom Forum?? Who knew Velcom had its own forum under "Companies beginning with V". This forum should be placed under Canadian ISP's, instead of the Velcom thread under Canadian Broadband. |

Thank you for the post here . The thing is, Velcom in general does generate some or quite a bit of discussion in the Canadian Broadband section. I'm sure if the others knew about this part of the forum they would most likely post here as well.
I guess until we generate more traffic here or at Canadian Broadband we won't be listed under the Canadian ISP's.

| I wanted to find a Velcom forum to see what speeds other people are getting. I'm in Oakville, and I'm getting an average of 4300/675. Is this as good as it gets? Are these numbers which other people would be happy to have?
I'm asking because I really don't know. I saw in another DSL thread a guy posted he was getting like 4600DL, and other people were all "sweet man, I wish I had that speed".
I guess I figured since I was living in a fairly new area in Oakville (Dundas/Trafalgar), I'd be closer to 5000DL.
My plan was to set myself up with Velcom's hardware (I have the cheap BroadXent modem), and make sure my speed was as high as it could be. Then I'd shop around for a router/modem to purchase. |

Considering Velcom and all other wholesalers are providing an up to 5 Meg service you are getting very good speeds. Also, since DSL is a PPPoE service after authentication there is some overhead or packet loss.
I just ran a sync rate test on your line and you currently have the full 5056/800 profile.
You're actually not too far from me. I am off Trafalgar and Derry in the new development area and I'm getting the same speeds. |
