1 - Michael Jonsson, having been working at Phase One for over 10 years at the time, was the architect and creator of Capture One DSLR. I only became involved a few months after initial release.
2 - After leaving Phase One, Michael Jonsson, some time later, co-founded Pixmantec, and was the sole architect and creator of RawShooter Essentials. I soon after left Phase One and joined Pixmantec, helped to form the RawShooter Pro product, and Color Engine (written by Magne Nilsen), and become the liaison to support and educate the user base and provide user feedback to Pixmantec R&D and marketing (as I had previously done for Phase One).
4 - When Adobe bought the assets of Pixmantec, like you, I lost my favorite Raw Converter, and lost my largest client at the time, Pixmantec. I received no money from Adobe or Pixmantec as a result of the sale of the assets. Nor did Magne Nilsen). However, based on my relationships with Thomas Knoll and Kevin Conner at Adobe, I was hired by Adobe (again as a paid consultant) to help in the Pixmantec to Adobe transition and I also was invited to join the Lightroom inner circle of development discussion and test. Adobe was fully informed of my potential involvement in a future "competing" product and of course I was under NDA with Adobe. At such time that it became apparent to me that a product was actually likely to happen from my then informal arrangement with Magne, I informed Adobe and dropped out of the Lightroom advisory group.
5 - In addition to my work at RawWorkflow.com, Magne Nilsen and I have formed a new company in Norway called Etcetera Consulting. Magne is the senior shareholder. We hope to release a Raw Converter product in the near future, which is roughly patterned after the lean and mean concepts pioneered by Michael Jonsson in RawShooter. However, our product is a ground up design with all proprietary imaging technology developed by Magne and colleagues. Our main focus is on UI efficiency, speed and ease of use, and Image Quality, tonality and color. We will announce the product when it is ready for sale.
