No, I have some flavor of westell modem. I want to say I'm 8000 feet out but I can't remember. I know when I first got caller id it didn't work so they 'fixed' the line and eliminated the 25000 foot loop I was loaded up on.
I think the wire here is smaller too I was told. Last time I called I was told that 1500 was the only option in the area.

26 ga perhaps? It's the same situation for me, but my loop is around 15,000 kft and I can get 3 meg just barely. This is directly to the CO; no joke. -- I have achieved 3 meg , fastpath sync on a 15,700 ft. 26 ga copper line. =]
