Re: AT&T

Also maybe a lack of services like download and upload speeds, overcharging the Bellsouth customers.

Old school business, and not reacting to competition:

1. Charging expensive rates for POTS ($40/month + ~$16/month in fees). Call Vantage (not being promoted) is $25/month. Uverse VoIP has been trialled at $40/month... WTF are they thinking!

2. Non compeitive bundling. DSL is decently priced, however has restrictions (until recently, required POTS). VDSL internet requires TV subscription. Cable will sell you any of their services standalone.

3. Eavesdropping / content filtering (blue room and now Hollywood agreements). All bad news.

My "service" rate is under $11 a month. My "Fees, taxes, and surcharges" add $23, for a $34 bill. On an $11 service plan. Nothing like a 200% b*llsh*t tax to remind me why I use VoIP for my primary line.

ATT & Mr. Martin (FCC) think as long as they are happy things will go good for them, as in getting there way.

But one thing they forgot in the equation is:

THE CUSTOMERS HAHA!! If the customers aren't there they are not going to be making money like they want to.

Once you make decisions based upon what you think is right and not the customers then you loose.

You need to adapt and adjust to the business environment.

The airlines need to do it all the time , stop re evaluate what the customer what's and can afford and adjust accordingly.

If customers want lower prices give them the most bang for there buck without falling over a sword doing it. In other words don't cut yourself.

But the Cash Rich organization (ATT) and others feel they can wait it out till they decide what they need to do.

When your slow to respond you loose your left leg. Instead of being a leg up in the business your bleeding and hurting because your loosing customers that's business.

People will pay what they can afford and what the most for there money.

This thing about well if ATT lowers there prices and gives more service support will stink or they will loose money somewhere else, that's not true.

They know how much they make on there products and they have been milking it for years with minimum investment.

Now Cable is forcing ATT to sell TV because there bread and butter is disappearing fast POTS & the mighty T-1 is not as necessary since DSL and Cable HSI came out. Only certain people need T-1's the majority don't have T-1's.

ATT if they have brains which I am sure they do will eventually use them. But only to the investors liking.
