 | Tell Us The Real Reason Or, maybe AT&T's business is slowing because the company made some bad decisions. They tried for too long to hang onto a declining landline business and for way too long forced people to bundle expensive POTS, a technology (term used loosely) many people don't need or want, in order to have DSL. They lost business to cable because of it. Now, instead of totally eliminating copper line AT&T decides to do a half-assed job of running fiber to the node, and deploys it too slowly. Meanwhile, competitors are passing them by deploying next-generation technologies at a time when consumers are hungry for them. So why is AT&T seeing a slowdown? |

They didn't want to spend the money to bring fiber to the home like Verizon because they wanted to please Wall Street analysts so that they keep the stock high so that the former CEO gets a fat retirement check. Chickens come home to roost. Those same analysts are now running away from the stock. They are getting their butt kicked by the competition. |

The competition is offering alot more for alot less then AT@T's overblown prices, and if you start adding some special features...look out. The VOIP's and the cable companies have the same features included. I left AT@T and the Bells several yrs. back for that very reason and never looked back. They can blame the economy or the cable co. down the street but the real problem lies within their corporate walls. -- VoicePulse 07/29/04 |
