| Question about AT&T Fiber
We live out in a rural part of town and have been using Hughes (satellite) as a internet provider. AT&T has recently laid fiber cable down our road and I am wondering if this will be used to provide internet to us? Not sure how much info I can provide but they have the white plastic pipes with orange caps placed about every 1/2 mile? and also have a few light green boxes placed about every mile down the road that are marked "Fiber Bond".
Can this be hope for us? -- DW7000 Pro Dynamic / G11 / 1370MHz / .74 Pole / I.E. / XP |

| Sorry -- but not likely. Enjoy your rural setting.
(I assume the fiber is on a "road to somewhere" -- either a CO or RT for a higher density of subscribers. If not you could be right) |

If you can see handholes placed about every 3000 ft. or so and/or start seeing tan cabinets being placed then you have a good chance at new services being deployed soon. -- GO NOLES!! |

| What are handholes? They do have the cabinets I mentioned above like every half mile or so apart. They are a greyish green, about 3' tall, 18" deep and 24" wide that has stickers saying "Fiber Bond". I did notice one of the employees working on a cabinet yesterday and it appeared to have some sort of black coil looking thing laying beside it.
Thanks -- DW7000 Pro Dynamic / G11 / 1370MHz / .74 Pole / I.E. / XP |

| reply to katrinahater I'm always curious where the telcos "are" in their deployment strategy.
Are you simply in-between 2 "serviceable" areas? or might they really have no other use for that fiber, other than to serve you? (and are you sure it's not for the cable co. ?) (oh, your not alone -- the local gas co. just refused to service my new homesite -- just 1 mile outside of a semi rural suburb and just off a main highway )
