What is the point?

What is the point of using the 360 on BT's service when all it can do is tune into the VoD? BT's live TV comes over the antenna on the roof, the only thing IPTV about BT's service is their VoD service. In other words, the 360 can only be used to surf through VoD content...But when Microsoft releases Anywhere DVR, it looks like you can connect to the BT DVR from the 360 and get your live content that way. I initially thought BT's service was a pure IPTV one, but this article told me otherwise: »www.lightreading.com/document.as···d=142432. Upon closer inspection of the BT website, it appears that is correct. »www.btvision.bt.com/vision/whats···atis.htm

When/if the 360 is ever allowed on pure IPTV services like AT&T's U-verse, the 360 will have full STB functionality. When AT&T and other IPTV providers using MediaRoom implement Whole Home DVR (Microsoft's Anywhere DVR), the 360 can supposedly watch recorded material from the DVR as well as schedule recordings. This should make up if they don't allow the 360 itself to be a DVR, and also makes it easier on existing 360 users with not enough room on their drive.
