Wednesday - no land line. The dry-loop part seems to be implemented but still at 3mbit dsl. I call for an order status and they tell me that there is no such thing as 7.1 and that I ordered 3mbit. I already had 3mbit - I watned 7.1

After about 2 hours on the phone talking to tech, billing, sales, back to tech back to billing and then finally to retention I ended up with Dry-loop 3 at $28 a month. Better than the $80 I was paying for local service and dsl.

They're most likely going to put a whole house filter for the DSL into your NID. Long story short: engineering says everything is in place; provisioning says the address is eligible; the press contact was told that the service was available. Nobody knows why I can't place an order. After more research, the engineering department admitted that nobody in the city was able to place an order for 7mbps. I know Verizon is a big company with complex systems that take time to update but it isn't acceptable for a press release to go out, have your engineering department do the heavy lifting, and then not make the service available.

The entire process installation took a little over an hour and I had to reboot my DSL gateway. My new speed tests at 6.5 down and 690-728 up (depending on which server I test from). I'm downloading at 790KB/s; not quite as fast cable but fast enough for now :D.

DSL service in general depends on the particular connection. The 7mb speed in particular depends greatly on loop length and condition. I've noticed that ever since Friday night, it no longer shows ANY plans at all for my dsl account. Previously, I'd be given the option to click 7.1/768 (recently appeared, although the order would fail every time) or renew my 3.0/768 plan for another 2 years. Hopefully they're performing an update? Fingers crossed!

Disappointing. What's more disappointing is having no way to talk to someone with a clue. I used the Verizon website to send an email and never got a response. When I did the same with Comcast (not known for customer service) I got a call back from a very knowledgeable person with the information I wanted (release date for HD channels).

That's really odd... From your stats, your line is synced roughly at the 768/128 rate (which is 864 / 160)... The margins ad attenuation also look really bad. Your speed test doesn't match your line stats at all. If verizon has you at ~5k feet from the CO, I'm willing to bet that there's a problem with your line. Did the tech install a home run? In my upgrade, the tech showed up after the 7.1 was turned on and the only thing he did was do some clean up at the pole. I asked if I needed the new modem and the homerun and he said as long as my speeds were ok (6800 down and 725 up) then he wouldn't have to do anything in the house. I'm still using the westell 2200 and it supports the 7.1. As for the homerun...I'm using the microfilters with no problem. thank you smith for the response. I already have filters running on the phone line and they r gonna give me a new modem(even tho i wont use it). sucks that i have to wait 1 week for them to come.

The funny thing is, i try to check the status on my order they say service is temporarily down. After logging in, it won't let me upgrade even to 3.0mbps. I'm on 768kbps right now, but all I can do is renew. It says my maximum connection speed is 768kbps...should I give Verizon a call or is this bad...? My neighbor has the 3mbps dsl right now, so I'm hoping it's just the site that's wrong.
