Sounds like they'll be operationally autonomous from Sprint. Seems that they are developing their own customer support and billing, Sprint's two weaknesses.

If Sprint was smart, they would just sell the backbone and let the "other guy" deal with hardware and CS. Sorta like what they do when they provide LD for VoIP providers. Thatway, if there's a problem, instead of dealing with some dumb shit customer, they deal with some dumb shit tech at the providers switching center. Keeps Sprint out of the picture.. .. That also means DON'T SELL WIMAX EQUIPMENT FROM YOUR RETAIL STORES TOO.

They are pretty much planning to do that with WiMAX. They plan to sell WiMAX laptop cards, but that's it. OTOH, they apparently don't plan to just be a dumb pipe.
