The demarcation point<br>is clearly physical in this case and there's<br>no confusion possible:  the inside box is for<br>the phone company, they have a protection bloc<br>there and they can fit a filter bloc as well<br>(but they didn't in this case).  The bloc which<br>we see in the secondary chamber, the one that<br>is opened on the photograph, well i don't know<br>what it's for other than to provide a plug one<br>can use to trouble-shoot.  If that bloc where<br>a filter then there would be no DSL signal left<br>to deliver to the smaller box installed on top<br>of it... I don't think you're supposed to do any wiring inside the inner box.<br><br>Have you thought about an external DSL splitter?  Take the wire after the NID ( 1 pair ) to the splitter, then bring 2 pair of the <br>UTP into the house. One is phone, one is DSL...<br><br>Also just for standards sake... Solid colour with white stripe = ring; goes to red or yellow.  White wire with coloured stripe = tip; goes to green or black. If you don't like the tin, use a fine file to remove it, but why bother?<br><br>You can find them at ElectroSonic, Sayal, Active, any automotive supply.  Get the ones for 22-18 wire (red sleeve).  Spade , hooked spade, loop:  your choice.  Demarc boxes are usually a #8-10 screw, the jack boxes #6.  Make CERTAIN you crimp well.  I CANNOT overstress this.  Over the years, I've repaired more troubles due to poor crimps than I care to admit.  Poor, oxidized, loose crimps WILL give you grief later like you wouldn't believe!<br><br>The best (and cheapest) is still strip the wire, wrap it under the washer, and screw it down quite firmly.  If it's outside, use a bit of silicone vaporproofing to keep oxidation down.<br><br>Oh - if you strip the wire, and that copper isn't shiny, STOP.  Get new wire.  Tarnished wire has been compromised ...]]></description>

I dont think you put the wires in there properly.<br><br>The correct way is to ... <br><br>At NID<br>1)remove the nut.<br>2)Strip Cat5/6 Cable. They don't have them in-stock at the electric supply, but the lady says she can order them in. She did say that they would come in a bulk pack of probably 50, but wasn't sure. She was going to call for me to get quanties and pricing, but they were really backed up with customers. I told her I would check first if these were the right ones. I did have to strip them properly & move them right by the cable coming from the bell poll.<br><br>here are my old & new Stats. I think I should have a higher attainable rate but because we had some phone issues they put me on a longer loop and other junk that now I can only max out at 7660Kbps before I could reach 8500Kbps at the demarc. There should only be copper under the screw, no insulation (plastic) at all.<br><br>Angelo_ :<br>Those copper lug terminals you can get at a whole bunch of places. Usually not hardware stores, but electronic parts stores/suppliers will have them (The Source might have them). Obviously you'll need a proper crimping tool to attach them to the wires.]]></description>
