I'm always curious where the telcos "are" in their deployment strategy.

Are you simply in-between 2 "serviceable" areas? or might they really have no other use for that fiber, other than to serve you? (and are you sure it's not for the cable co. ?)
(oh, your not alone -- the local gas co. just refused to service my new homesite -- just 1 mile outside of a semi rural suburb and just off a main highway

)

Probably just in-between two serviceable areas.
