Message about number change when leaving ViaTalk?

My company offers phone service, so I no longer need my ViaTalk line. Because the ViaTalk line is from a different rate center than where I now live, I was not able to port out. So my question is, once I disconnect my ViaTalk service, can they put a message up saying that the number has been changed?

hahahahahhaahhahahhahahahaahahahaha...*sniff*...sorry.

seriously, no they won't. all callers will get is a 'this number is no longer in service' notice.

you'll have to wean your callers off the ViaTalk number. set up the account as voice mail only and record your own greeting that the number changed. watch your call logs to see who continues to dial the old number. once the calls die down then it would be safe to cancel the number.

That's what I was thinking, just didn't think of it soon enough. I will do just that. Thanks for the info guys.
