Blast Upgrade Available in Morgantown, WV

hate to double-post on this subject, but I figure I better share here too.

Comcast Blast! is defiantly on my account now. I had to contact Comcast and they had to remove old "Adelphia Billing Codes" from my account. I actually got charged double for internet for 2 months :-( They fixed it though.

Latest speedtest at about 11:15am EST.

My Location: Morgantown, WV
Is FIOS Available: Of course not, Verizon is dumb.

Oh yeah, they also told me I would only get a max download speed of 17.2mbps, but well, the speedtest proves that wrong! [I have not uncapped my modem or anything, this is just the way it's been since last night]

[sorry to keep editing:]
here's a portion of my chat transcript from last night.
----------------------------
[I had first asked about getting 4 more ip's, they told me I need to upgrade to business class. How sad...]

Jon_ > Also, can you tell me if "Blast!" is available at my location?

Jon_ > (not powerboost, but "Blast!" wink)

Valerie > Checking now

Jon_ > thanks.

Valerie > Sure, the 16Meg service...checking for that now

Jon_ > Thanks.

[edited out the part where they need you to confirm it's your account]

Valerie > Effective 12-10-07, you have been a subscriber of the increased internet speed service. The Comcast Blast is our 16Megs speed; which is what you are now getting

Jon_ > That's interesting, because I have only been able to get download speeds of 6Megs

Valerie > I see an error in billing and hope you dont mind, but I would like to correct this for you

Jon_ > I have tested it almost everyday since I upgraded.

Valerie > Have you powercycled the cable modem recently?

Jon_ > Yes, I did it a few days after the upgrade.

Jon_ > Do you think doing it again would fix the problem?

Valerie > try it again....I am running a few checks from here, be back in a moment

Jon_ > okay, I am using servers from Pittsburgh PA, Frederick MD, and Washington DC for my tests, so I should be able to get almost all 16Megs (or at least higher than 6)

Jon_ > let me check.

Valerie > Stay with me Jon...I am resetting the modem for you...so this chat will go down temporarily and will come back up in just a few...stay here and we will reconnect

Jon_ > okay, thanks.

Jon_ > okay, reset now?

Jon_ > *I mean, it should be done resetting now.

Valerie > We are back ..but the billing codes issue I found may be hindering this...I am working on coding and may reset again...hold tight...

Jon_ > okay, thanks. Do you mind telling me what the problem was?

Valerie > Not done yet...let me get this working for you!

Jon_ > okay, thank you very much.

Jon_ > You've been more helpful than anyone else in the past month :-p

Jon_ > wow! I just got 10.2mbps download and 1.2mbps upload! It seems to be doing a lot better.

Jon_ > Still not 16 though, but I am happier!

Jon_ > I don't know if comcast will let you view outside links since you're working, but this is the 4th speedtest I did (right after your 2nd modem reset): »www.spe

Valerie > I have to reset the modem again...hang in there...and the issues I found were with the old Adelphia codes on the account ...taking precendence over the Comcast Blast.....this made for a duplicate charge on your dad's account...billing him for the 6 megs speed in the Adelphia Digital Bronze package 52.95 for that and the digital channels...and again at 55.95 for the Intenet at 16 megs alone.....I removed the old Adelphia codes, and refunded the account the 52.95 ....I had to replace the old adelphia codes for the digital channels with the Comcast codes for the same service level....so this may actually open up a few channels you didnt have access to before now.....Let me reset again to see if we can get this baby up to full speed....Do you have a router...if so, direct wire to the cable modem for the
best test as the modem slows the testers down

Valerie > Stay with me...resetting now

Jon_ > okay

Valerie > OK, test again...I got 16600, not the maximum 17600, but very good rates, very good indeed!

Jon_ > okay also, I just looked at my bill online, it says I owe $208...is this incorrect?

Jon_ > Because originally with Adelphia, we should've had everything for like $130

Valerie > Hold on...let me finish with the tests...then I will review the changes in the billing too!

Valerie > 100 packets transmitted, 100 packets received, 0% packet loss, time 5854.33 ms
rtt min / avg / max = 56.99 / 58.54 / 71.59 ms...so the Pings are resounding great....excellent speeds and pings great, sounds like you are good to go now. Before I go to billing issues...I just need to confirm with you that you are getting the same or similar results...it seems this is fixed, correct?

this should do it for ya guys.
