1 edit | reply to JayMan Re: iphone - will be here?
said by JayMan :Should make for some interesting price changes and you will see Rogers get the Iphone damn fast if it becomes true that Telus is going GSM. Telus and Bell have both Talked about this more times than I can count from 1 - 100 while walking from Calgary to Toronto... Every time they have talked about it they have decided against it for multiple reason...One being cost...
And besides the fact it would take them a long time (at least a year) before they got the conversion (up and running) forget completed.
Rogers will fore-sure have the Iphone rolled out way before than.... Any way you cut the time line...
And Jayman as far I new you work for company who Rogers contracts with to "in source" the call centers... Your not a direct Rogers employee.... Please correct me if I am wrong...

| reply to macedon I bet Telus and Bell will setup a roaming-only network for BC for 2010.
Why would Telus/Bell switch to GSM when they can wait and save money.
They will have to go backwards and deploy a 2G network and then release a 3G network then move a 4G network.
CDMA/EVDO --> GSM/HSDPA --> LTE
CDMA/EVDO --> LTE
Which path seems cheaper?
"Researchers at Nokia Siemens Networks and Heinrich Hertz Institute have demonstrated LTE with 100 Mbit/s Uplink transfer speeds." |

| reply to macedon No, only Telus sends the white vans after their employees.
Unless an employee can show me a picture of a Rogers branded iPhone then there's no proof. -- BCE and it's subsidiaries, Bell Canada, Bell Mobility, Bell ExpressVu, and Bell Sympatico are in no way responsible for my posts made in this forum. |

Nothing top secret is going to be told to you.
And yeah only Telus tosses employees into vans for reprogramming. |

Employees have a pretty strict policy they have to follow... And for non-employee Beta tester leaking information could land up being very a bad thing.....

I think if you know what a lot of us around here actually do for a living your weird feelings would get a whole lot worse...
As as far Rogers goes I think some of us have the wrong picture of what actually the rules are over there...

| reply to macedon You can have an iPhone on Rogers or Fido, if its unlocked.
For those who read threads on howardforums, there's one quoting an article from TheStar mentionning TELUS is thinking implementing a GSM network in big center to gain market share of the roaming user pie currently eaten completely by the glutton that is Rogers.
Telus does have good price on data (15$ unlimited). One can only speculate when and IF it'll ever happen. |
