 PowerBoost Not 'Turning Off'

So ever since PowerBoost was enabled I've been getting extremely fast speeds for what I'm paying for. I currently have Shaw Extreme-I and with SpeedBoost I can get download speeds of around 3MB/s which is pretty cool. Just here is the thing...I can download for hours at that speed. It's pretty awesome. Anyone else noticing this?

When Comcast launched Powerboost last year, several users reported it wasnt turning off. It became dubbed as "Perma-Boost". Search around the forums and back news stories about it and you will see.

I live in Saskatoon. I didn't do anything, it just is locked at around 30mbit, which is pretty funny. Of course not everything I download is that fast, since alot of servers cant even send it that fast, but for those who can it is pretty cool. Im betting this wont last long.

Shhhhh....don't tell Shaw, I'm quite enjoying a repititive speedboost as soon as the other one finishes. I enjoying watching my downloads drop from 1.1 MB/s to 500 KB/s then climb back upto 1.1 MB/s and stay there for a small period of time and then repeat the process on the same download. Also enjoying 1.1 MB/s download on torrents

Mine is like this too on the 10mbit plan. I can download from microsoft.com at 3.66MB/sec all day long. Funny part is I used to be complaining on this site about how slow my speeds were with shaw. Things have certainly turned around, for me at least.

Still jealous. My torrents can reach as high as 2.4 MB/s and then back to 1.2 MB/s as usual.

maybe we can get some more people to ask for a trial and see how it fairs?

Maybe it's just the weekend brain settling back, but who are you talking about asking for a trial? Powerboost is automatically enabled for Extreme-I customers. Everyone should have it without asking for it.

As for those who have it and it stays boosted - lucky!

Maybe you're on a very unpopulated node? Doesn't the duration of the 'boost' depend on the traffic of the node being shared amongst all your neighbors?

Huh? I got an email not long ago about it and it costs extra, so I dunno where you get the idea that everyone has it.

"PowerBoost is included with Xtreme-I service and is available to Shaw High-Speed Internet customers for $2.95 per month."

I didn't say "everyone" had it. I said Xtreme-I users had it. The OP - and others - have stated they were on Extreme-I.

Most of us are not on Extreme and your post wasnt't clear, especially when stating that "Everyone should have it without asking for it".

I'll admit I should have said "Xtreme-I customers should have it without asking for it" however I was responding to the OP's question who IS on Xtreme-I, likewise every registered user posting on this question IS ALSO on Xtreme-I. And given that no one else seemed to be confused suggests the confusion might be isolated to yourself.

But I will try to be more clear in the future.

narcis

Pretty clear to me since you mention everyone should have it and Extreme-I in the same paragraph which means your referencing each other. If you had 'everyone should have it' on a separate sentence, then I can see where the confusing lies.

Good for you narcis. Maybe if one day all the internet chat forums will become a formal place of communication where only lawyers and the like will post messages, we'll all think the same way in terms of sentence structure and meaning.
