[TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

The internet connection has been flaky all day. I am located in zipcode 92128 and the modem has been loosing and gaining connection all day long, the network is up for a min or two and then down. Also noticed my ip adress is now 24.xx instead of 76.xx it used to be. Anyone else experiencing problems?

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

I have a friend in Corona with RR who has had the same problem with his connection going on and off a lot today. Not sure on his IP changing though. Will have to find out.

@rr.com

yes, i live in carmel mountain in 92128. my ip is in the 24.xx.xxx.xx and its been like this ever since 12pm. i think they're doing maintenance or upgrading our speeds. hmmm. because in 92128 part of san diego the standard speed is still 7/512 as to a lot of my other friends live in a variety of areas around SD and they all have their standard speed bumped to 10/1.

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

Thats interesting, i pay for RR Premium/Turbo whatever they call it and I get 10/1...if thats the speed everyone else on the lower tier is getting then what the heck am I paying extra $ for.

I live in the 92128 area code and my service and speeds has been rock solid. Hasn't been affected by packet shaping, outages or slow downs at all.
SO FAR!!

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

dude, whats your IP address showing up as and what is the speed test showing? I called RR yesterday and they admitted there was a server issue which is causing the problems...cable modem loses sync every so often.

Here in Carlsbad (92008) I get 10/2 (or close to this). I am using a Motorola SB-5101 modem.

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

Well my connection seems better today but im still pulling a 24.x IP address and my upload is now 512K instead of 1Mbps it used to be :-(

o0osk11

@rr.com

its a bunch of bullshit!

i was on the phone with a connection specialist yesterday and he told me they did an upgrade on Wednesday and it was supposed to end in the morning but it didn't. By far, the RR techie told me he wanted to try upgrading me to the premium package (15/2) and I did a speed test and it was still at 7/512. and road runner standard speed is supposed to be 10/1. whatever. he told me he's going to give the engineers that work in that area a call and try to see whats up with some people in 92128. btw i live in carmel mountain

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

o0osk11
yeah the troubles started wed, when i called customer service he told me there was a "server issue" and it wouldn't be fixed till late at night. Well it's sat now and im hitting my 10Mbps download but my upload is at 512 instead of 1M! The connection just seems flaky as well, pages arnt loading as fast as they used to and previously downloads wouldn't reach 10M down and the transfer graph would show a steady horizontal line, now its all over the place.

Im in carmel mountain as well, I think they screwed something up here!

o0osk11

@rr.com
wow. not cool. for some apparent reason i lost connection so i rebooted my cable modem and now im back at 5/384 (old standard speeds) when standard is supposed to be 10/1.

o0osk11

@rr.com

whhhhattt?

your getting the 10mbps download? =[

the customer service person told me everybody east of bernardo center drive (i think its us) is getting 5/384. BUT HOW ARE YOU GETTING THE REGULAR 10/1?!?!?! daaang. he said they're gonna fix it on monday

SanDiego92128

@rr.com

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

Hey, how come they dont show 15/2 on their webpage...is that speed available in our area? Im paying for the premium/turbo package since the last two years and recently had the bump to 10/1, do I need to call them to get 15/2?

o0osk11

@rr.com

Yeah, San Diego is supposed to be:

Standard: 10/1
Premium/Turbo: 15/2

But apparently, it's
Standard: 7/512. 512 = kilobits
Premium/Turbo: 10/1.

Yeah. I really don't know. Your saying RECENTLY you have been bumped to 10/1? Recently, as in when? Because I think the techie told me the upgrade on Wednesday was changing the RR standard speed to 10/1 instead of 7/512 and turbo/premium to 15/2 instead of 10/1 (FINALLY)...the other upgrade was adding HD channels available to the cable tv box in 92128 (since we didnt have an option like that)

But apparently you're getting the full 10/1 your getting. but for me im getting 5/384 but i'm supposed to be getting 10/1?!?! haha. eh. And you don't need to call them I think. Because they said they upgraded the routers in our area. but but but. your not getting the speed? they said techies did something wrong. lol

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

I received the 10/1 upgrade email as recently as Thursday, November 29, 2007. I had also received a phone call message from TWC about it.

o0osk11

@rr.com

so surely San Diego Road Runner's standard speed is 10/1 and turbo/premium is 15/2? I don't know why but they did an upgrade last Wednesday in my area (san diego ca 92128) and EVERYONE i mean EVERYONE who has standard rr is getting half of what were supposed to get. the old rr standard speeds 5/384. how wonderful. the turbo people (people that are supposed to be getting 15/2) are getting 7/800. my friend has turbo and apparently in my area every speed is cut down in half. -_-

SanDiego92128

@rr.com

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

Just to clarify, I've been paying for turbo 10/1 since maybe middle of last year or so, prior to that turbo was 8/512 and normal was 5/384?

My upload is currently half of what it used to be, since wed.

o0osk11

@rr.com

heh. the turbo 8/512 speeds and 5/384 are like 2 years old back in 2006. But aww. I hope they promised like they would to fix the problem tomorrow (Monday). I hope everything is upgraded to what it SHOULD be:
Standard: 10/1
Turbo/Premium: 8/512

o0osk11

@rr.com
OOPS. i mean Turbo/Premium: 15/2

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

Well, its monday evening and im still getting poor upload speeds :-( any news on when this will be fixed guys?

o0osk11

@rr.com
at least your getting full download speed man. i wouldnt be complaining >. a lot of us in 92128 aren't even getting more than half of what we are supposed to be getting download AND upload wise...you should feel lucky hehe.

Hello, new to this forum but not to dsl reports. I too am in the 92128 area but still getting 5 down/3 up. I just got off the phone with a tech and apparently, there has been an update to the ticket (today, according to the tech) I had opened for this issue. Supposedly, our area is supposed to be on a different server now and all that needs to be done is re-booting the modem to get the new down/up load speeds. I re-booted the modem and am still getting 5 down/3 up! The ticket is still open for this issue though. Tech stated to try calling back tomorrow (again!). BTW, I'm getting a 24.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address instead of the 76.xxx.xxx.xxx IP address I had before. AAAHHH! This is frustrating....

Slow in 92128...

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

devangel,

Dude same problem here, getting 24.xx instead of 76.xx I used to get. Spent an hour or more on the phone with tier 1, tier 2 and 3 tech support last night. They confirmed I was a RR Turbo subscriber but that my cable modem was configured for 512K down instead of 1Mbit, yet they couldn't fix the problem. What was even more frustrating was most of them didn't know what the turbo speed should be and tried to convince me it was 8/512 and not 10/1 I have been getting for over 6 months!!

I'm still rock solid for my 10/1 connection. I am not seeing the flaky speeds that you guy/gals are seeing in the 92128 area code. I would like to see the 15/2 speeds that everyone is talking about. Never-the-less, I am satified with my current speeds as long as there are no hick-ups.
I hope you guys get you issues resolved.
As stated before, my IP comes up as 66.xx not 24.xx

o0osk11

@rr.com

yeah devangel, a lot of us have 24xxxx ips. i had a rr technician tell me that apparently for the people who are getting 5/384 like you and i, he says that the router in our area is only letting us have 5/384 and the technician that did the maintenance last wednesday apparently made a mistake. ah this sucks.

I'm in 92128 near RB High. Never seen 15/2 here with Turbo; usually around 10/1. My IP is typically 66.x.x.x.

o0osk11

@rr.com

nyago123

i go to rb high LOL

i live in carmel mountain across from ralphs.

hey do you know if the whole 92128 is set at 5/384 standard and 10/1 turbo? because thats lame. it should be 10/1 standard and 15/2 turbo as advertised on the site -_______-

o0osk11

@rr.com

(sorry for double post)side note~ last wednesday they did an upgrade and apparently the standard speed got pushed down to 5/384 instead of 7/512....an upgrade is supposed to improve things. not make them WORSE. as of now, i'm not satisfied at all with road runner. everyone is getting 10/1 standard and 15/2 turbo in san diego EVERYWHERE except for area code 92128.

SanDiego92128

@qualcomm.com

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

Keep pushing them...im still capped at 512K for upload instead of the 1Mbit I was previously getting.

o0osk11

@rr.com

O_O

apparently i rebooted my modem and i magically increased back to my 7 megabit down 512 up. LOL...
well its normal for now....btw~ we have a pending maintenance for our area 92128...so by the end of january i think we're going to get upgraded.

SanDiego92128

@rr.com

Re: [TWC] Flaky connection San Diego 92128

How can you tell there is a pending maintenance for our area?

o0osk11

@rr.com

the technician was looking at the profile for our area code and apparently she was mumbling under her breath "pending maintenance schedules before 2/1" and then i asked her "oh really are we going to have a maintenance?" she says yes and the rr techs will try to fix the problem with the upload speeds and people not getting speeds they're supposed to get!!!
