Dual Buffer Feature

I've played around with the new dual buffers and they are more amazing than I've seen anyone report on them. Originally I thought they would only work with the "last" button, not so. It remembers the last two stations even if you press the channel numbers or just use the up/down arrows. I tested 48 and then pressed the up arrow to 49, then pressed the down arrow and rewound, pressed the up arrow and rewound and so forth. I did it the same way on 52 & 53. I even turned the DVR off and when I turned it back on I could still rewind the last two stations that I had on! Amazing!!

I've noticed that too. posted in another thread. in the midst of a lot of people complaining about how the dual buffering experience isn't as good as tivo or comcast (which its not), its cool to see someone who actually is satisfied.

I turned on my TV & DVR this morning after both were shut all night. I was able to rewind 1 hour of both stations that I was looking at last night. So it still buffers constanly even with the DVR off. I better not tell my wife about that. Now she'll be able to see what I was watching

Buffering has stopped working

Dual buffering has stopped working on one of my 2 DVRs. Due to a audio problem, the box that has stopped buffering was "reprogrammed" the other night by a technician which required me to redo all my settings. Could this have caused this to happen?

I don't know, but if it's not working right and they can't get it to work, tell them you want a replacement.

Sorry but I wrote too soon! I unplugged the box and it seems to have fixed the problem. I know - why I didn't think to do this first??

well you shouldn't have to do it if they reset it, but glad it's working.

Re: Dual Buffer Feature

I have heard from my sources that we will get the pause functionality that TIVO fans miss most in a future release. When this happens I believe this will be one of the best DVR's available out there through a provider not named TIVO.

I am extremely please with the IMG and the DVR.

Re: Buffering has stopped working

This has been reported on quite a bit over at avsforums and it's happened to me a couple of times but noone has been able to reliably reproduce the condition under which it occurs. It falls back to it's pre-upgrade behavior and a box reboot always brings it back. I have also been able to get it working again by starting a recording and switching channels.

Re: Dual Buffer Feature

Is this dual buffer something that is in the new IMG?
This is the first I am hearing about it. Should keep my eyes open a bit wider.

Yes but note that, if you enter a channel by number with all four digits, say 0110, it will not do the dual buffering. Enetering 110 only and pressing OK or waiting for it to change is okay.

Technically you are wrong. It will still buffer, but the "last" channel button won't work.

My mistake, sorry. To be honest, I don't rely on the dual buffering at all as I've had it just stop working here and there at which point it needs a reset from HQ (unplugging does not fix it). I just can't be bothered when that happens.
