Qwest modem not working with ethernet cable

We had DSL service through PeoplePC and Vonage VOIP until about a week ago. We also had a land line still connected through Qwest. We had our land line disconnected and discovered that we couldn't get stand alone DSL service through PeoplePC. So, we switched to Qwest stand alone DSL. Now, we can't connect to the internet using an ethernet cable with either the old PeoplePC DSL modem (ZyXEL P-600 series) or with the Actiontec GT701R DSL modem. We can connect from the Actiontec modem using a USB cable. The problem is, Vonage doesn't work with a USB cable. The Vonage Motorola VT2142 router hooks up with an ethernet cable to the computer just fine. I can ping the connection and have gone to 192.168.15.1 and tried to set up a WAN configuration. It won't accept the username and password that the Qwest tech gave me for our DSL service. This password works just fine when I get a broadband connection through the USB cable. I've had Vonage and Qwest tech support reps tell me that the problem might be with the NIC card. The device manager status shows that it's working properly. I went to Dell's website to download another driver, but it's just the same driver that is already on our computer (Dell Dimension 8400 series). Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Did you happen to have set your PC or router up with a static IP address under the old system? If so, there's a good chance that the subnet from the zyxel and the actiontec are not the same. There's no way the zyxel will work with qwest unless you know how to change the VPI/VCI. If you are using a router or the vonage adapter with a switch for your PC, then make sure it is set up to accept an IP address via DHCP/automatically. Later... Mike.....
