I find it interesting that people are canceling over $11.40/year. |

| You guys must be reading something different than me. I see $3.45 hike placed in below the line charges.
That looks accurate to me. VT charges one price say $199 for year plan then is adding another $3.45 a month to that. No mention of the original $2.50 bogus charges.

| reply to espaeth Not really, I'm not paying the $2.50 a month right now, so this equals a $3.45 rate hike. Not only that, right now I don't have a bill, having been prepaid, so this equals a new bill, and something small and annoying. -- Retaking our country one election at a time. |

A hike is an increase or rise, often sharp and unexpected, from what it just was. So the fee hike in this case is actually $0.95 (not so sharp, but definitely unexpected).
Definitions of "hike" from dictionary.com:
-to increase, often sharply and unexpectedly: to hike the price of milk. -noun -an increase or rise, often sharp and unexpected: a hike in wages. -Idiom
Saying the hike is $3.45, when people have been paying $2.50 of that amount for over a year, is misleading. The way it is posted sounds like there was no "below the line" amount before, but now there is...and it's $3.45. |

It's a 38% increase, with no warning, without cause, effective immediately, and contrary to assertions of 2 months ago.
Yes, this is quibbling, and the increase is tiny by most measures, but...

P.S. Agreed the headline is ultimately misleading, but the so-very-slightly-sensationalistic slant is one thing I like about Karl's headlines. -- In a realm outside causality and function |
