Wheels is sorta all over the place.

If you have a cable box it will work fine wheels, so long as we are talking about comcast going all digital, if you mean OTA stuff, then it won't "work" you will require a atsc set top box for it.

Wheels you are making us dizzy, you'll get whatever channels comcast offers and at this point none of us know what next year will bring.

stuttering has been the name of the game this weekend. seeing it over multiple channels (hgtv, usa, tbs, nfl, tnt). It's pretty much constant..anyone else seeing this? I'm wondering if something didn't get knocked out of whack with the high winds yesterday, but then other channels are fine.

edit: my SNR is in the 20-21 range now. Previously this was like 35 or 36. It still says "Good" next to it, but the motorolla wiki says that below 31dB generally isn't good.

edit2: went and checked all the wiring in the house and found a loose connection down by the washing machine we got replaced friday. stuttering seems to be mostly cleared up. I still noticed slight jerkiness on tnt and nfl, but the others were fine. On another note, what should I be looking at in the moto6412 menu to determine signal strength? I go into diagnostics and d03 (OOB status) gives me a SNR of 21.1 and AGC of 11%, both listed as "GOOD". d04 (inbound status) gives me SNR's in the 37-37.5 range on both tuners.

OOB can be anything down to like 12db and still be fine... your inband numbers are peachy.

1. Expanded Basic HD requires a security device to unencrypt them. A Digital Cable Ready TV or HD STB is required. HD is a seperate service that is $0.00 additional on top of Expanded Basic. (hurry while supplies last!)

9. HD is a package on top of SD/Analog. This HD package costs $0.00 but requires additional equipment. Outside of Denver and Fort Cherry, NJ; a QAM + CableCard slot is all that is needed. An STB or TiVo in any area will also suffice.

10. Your lack of knowledge and panic striken misunderstandings do not equate to Comcast "lies".
Since you obviously have inside knowledge to Comcast's billing structure for these new HD channels, do you work for them? My only lack of knowledge is your obvious insider knowledge. Care to be more specific about my lack of knowledge? I am very technically competent ... what I'm not competent at is deceiving people into paying more for less.

These new channels were advertised as a part of "Expanded Basic" PERIOD. I have never heard about anything such as "Expanded Basic HD" before your post. From what I've read here, nobody was asked if they wanted to subscribe to a "$0.00" service, nor has anyone mentioned this as a separate part of their bill. How is Comcast reporting this to stockholders and the SEC? As a loss??? Somebody (e.g. subscribers) is paying for it. Care to show off your "knowledge" on that one? WHO's paying for it??? Or do you just want to accuse me of not having any?

Lies? Run ads daily about having "more" HD programming than satellite ... which is an obvious lie, unless you read the fine print about how Comcast defines "more" (which includes things such as may not apply to your area, includes VOD programming, and other convoluted measures). Multiple lies and misleading rumors started by Comcast with respect to the Big Ten Network. Also, Comcast clearly intends to take advantage of the OTA digital transition to trick people into paying for STBs. $9.95/month for an STB when other providers charge nearly half as much, etc.
quote:
2. You will loose ALL of expanded basic by the end of this year (20% of Comcastland will) unless you understand the changes and how to adapt to them.

3. Rate increases happen to those who don't want to switch to digital TV or "package up". Expanded Basic customers will continue to see increases until they finally switch over to the cheaper, more channel offering, Digital Starter. It's incentive to get customers OFF of analog.
What perfect timing ... during the OTA transition ... hmmm.
quote:
4. What expanded basic analog channels are you not able to receive on Expanded Basic??? I will personally write the petition to the FCC to have Comcast fined $75,000 per subscriber in the area that is not offering channels consumers are paying for!
What are you, a Comcast lawyer? Interject "analog" into my comment about people paying for for channels they can't receive and do a little sensationalization? Get some integrity and grow up.

For that matter, I did lose TMC and I guess whatever country music television station that was (CMT?). If you actually cared, you would have read that. I was not told by Comcast that I'd be losing programming ... nor was I told about any of these additions either.
quote:
5. How in the world do you think your subsidizing other services when ANALOG expanded basic is the largest leech on the network? [...] Your bill is going up to convince you to unleech yourself from the network, not to subsidize other services. Until you realize it is YOU that is the problem, your delusions of shifty accounting will isolate your rants to that of "nutcase" status.
The vast majority of Comcast subscribers are leeches? There's a good one. YOU tell them that one. Maybe Comcast should run an ad with that one, instead of the pretending to be a friendly neighbor approach.

Of course Comcast makes more money off of premium services ... that's the whole point of them being premium. More standard services have a lower margin. That's how nearly any business works.

In the end, you still have to tell me who's paying for this "$0.00" service. You can't be making the premium subscribers pay for it either.
quote:
6. CableCards work just fine, try one! Support for CableCards will continue until 2012-2013 when DCAS should be wide spread.

7. [...] The FCC was well aware that the cable industry requires bidirectional communication for digital cable; yet they decided the consumer electronic manufacturers knew more about digital cable than the cable industry and allowed DCR to be unidirectional. This has been known since 2003, a little research would have helped ya out on that one;[...]
Please can it with the cable industry disinformation. The FCC rulings that resulted in CableCard were done long, long before 2003. It behooves the cable industry to have this constantly moving target for a standard because then the consumer electronics industry can never standardize on anything and we get the current state of "forced" box rentals.

CableCard is not an option because options don't exist with respect to CableCard (and no, a single obscure TiVo box at $300 plus $10/month subscription is not "options").

And I already stated that I don't give a hoot about VOD, and I suspect the vast majority of subscribers don't either. Defying the FCC to force a business model most people don't want or care about rubs me the wrong way as well (as well as us all paying for the VOD infrastructure investment).
quote:
8. If you want to be "boxless", two options will exist: a tru2way enabled TV set (due out this fall) [...]
I'll believe that tru2way exists when I see it. The cable industry has 30+ years of track record that leaves me skeptical.

And none of this obviates the idea that with even a half-assed organization of channel frequencies and traps one could give people the ability to get an unencrypted digital equivalent to expanded basic over clear QAM. I'll admit to being less knowledgeable here, but that said, it certainly makes sense to me.

Your post just makes it all the more clear that local government needs to place far more scrutiny over local cable franchises during the OTA digital transition.

@comcast.net

hello again room i am not sure where to post this so i will post this Question here, i heard in april 2008 York, PA/Susquehanna Valley will be able to recieve- WHTM 27 will this be on the comcast system in williamsport as well? i have read about this channel and it says it will being back all old movies like emergency squad 51 and old shows like that. if any one has heard about this could you let me know thank you very much,

P.S. all my hd channels are running great

treilly845

@pa.net

Regarding WHTM 27, it is an ABC network affiliate out of Harrisburg, and as far as I know, just has ABC stuff on, with local news shows at 6 and 11. I am not aware of them having 'old stuff' unless it is in the wee hours of the morning. Hope that will help.

Ahhh.
It's going to be a digital subchannel of WHTM 27 out of Harrisburg.

That makes more sense.
