Re: Slowing down said by NY Tel:You know I never understand why Verizon Wireless does not buy them?. Probably because there is too much overlap between Verizon Wireless and Sprint's coverage areas. A much better acquisition for Verizon Wireless or Sprint would be ALLTEL. -- Only SHATNER is Kirk. |

| Wasn't Alltel recently sold? And as far as the overlap is concerned - that would be 50 million additional subscribers who would be able to take advantage of the Verizon network, allow them to shut down duplicate towers and become the largest carrier overnight. |

| reply to pnh102 Yeah.. Sprint should have bought Alltel or US Cellular... I can only thank Sprint for one thing.. Them laying me off last year.. If they hadn't I would still be there and not have this awesome job managing Verizon FIOS locations... |

I don't think Verizon would want to touch the mess that is Sprint. I don't have Verizon Wireless as my personal cell provider but it seems they are doing pretty well without Sprint as it stands now. If they were to acquire Sprint, it would be a huge financial risk for a company that is doing very well. There would be all sorts of problems, and if Verizon is smart, they would want to avoid such hassles. -- Only SHATNER is Kirk. |

 | I concur. VZW seems a lot more concerned about profitability than they are about shear size. |

| reply to pnh102 Probably why Verizon has not yet offered me the job of Senior VP of Mergers and Acquisitions. Hey I'm a former employee - they could just re-activate me and bridge my years of service, I'll buy Sprint - shut the towers down, overload the network and collect my 6 million in executive perks.....lol Works for me |
