[netopia] Can't get into Router Netopia 4541 ADSL Router

Where do I begin ........

I was surfing the net when suddenly my internet connection stopped.
Attempted to look at the web interface from IE and again from Netscape 9. The reply was " Unable to open interface" (something like that).

I attempted to telnet into the router from the command prompt. The reply was "Unable to open port 23".

Did the usual stuff...
Powered off the router for 5 minutes. Disconnected the power cord and network cabling. Plugged everything back in. Still unable to get to router.

Restarted XP Pro. Still unable to get to router. Powered off everything:
computer, router, and lights in the room, disconnected everything for 5 minutes. Still having the same problem.

The lights are on and visible on the router. The router states that the internet connection is up. HOWEVER...:((( I still can't get into the router.

Bought a Link-sys Wireless- G VPN Router (model MRV200). Connected my Westell WireSpeed modem (Yes the modem still works)
Connected to the internet just fine. I have to take it back because I need the RJ-11 connection/modem to be included.

Has anyone come across this problem before ??? Is there a resolution for this problem (outside of purchasing additional equipment) ?
