| Can anyone tell me???
I prepaid the $199 for 2 years with Viatalk in April '06, and have gone through the horrible phone service, horrible customer service, sudden, additional, erroneous monthly fees, and emails threatening to terminate my horrible phone service if I didn't update my credit card so they could charge the erroneous fees.
I finally decided to move on. My "contract" is up in April, so here's my question. If I were to cancel TODAY, would they charge me an early termination fee, even though my account is paid in full? Also, their current TOS mentions there is now a "disconnect fee" of $50 for any customer leaving Viatalk. Will I get charged the $50, considering that was not in the TOS when I signed up?
Lastly, I read something about being charged a fee if I don't return the hardware I received with the start of service. I remember that I paid extra to get the router I'm currently using. Why should I have to send that to them? Did I not purchase it at the start of my contract?
I don't care about being able to port my number, because I don't want them to be able to use that as leverage against me. So, if they end up trying to charge me all of these unfair fees, what would happen if I simply utilized a virtual credit card number that's only good for a month or 2, and then allow them to cancel my service for non payment??? |
