| Green Line after IMG upgrade Cent NJ
I have done a search and seen this problem widely reported. My stb's updated last night to the new IMG and all of a sudden I too have the green line bug.
It is obviously a VZ issue as no one reports having the beautiful green line down the right side of the screen prior to the upgrade.
To my surprise though there does not appear to be any valid solution. Are my search skills that bad or has VZ yet to address this issue? |

| Since the green line is due to an HDMI bug with the Motorola HD boxes, switch the output resolution to 720P. If you don't want to modify the resolution, switching to component video is another option. This is a known bug that is supposed to be resolved soon. |

| reply to andreseng This might be a stupid fix, but on my TV, I can shift the picture horizontally and vertically, I just shifted the picture a couple pixels to the right and the green line disappeared. Not the most perfect solution in the world, but if you're like me and have your cables fished, it's much easier than re-running cables or downgrading the quality of the HD. |

That works for some folks, depending on their TV and settings. For others, the green line is bold and about a quarter inch wide and the picture adjustment isn't enough. For them, the solution is to use component.
For some, the move to component isn't a big issue because based on individual taste, the picture is better. As others have said, Verizon is aware of this issue and a fix is in the works. |

TIA Power OFF on STB, within a few seconds press SELECT then MENU. This should bring up a screen on the TV with options. Go to the HDMI options and you can change the color space to RGB. -- REMEMBER: Stupidity should be painful !! |

| reply to HenryFarpolo Henry,
Thanks, I fully understand that it's a dumb fix, just trying to post all potential solutions. For me, it took me an hour and a half to fish my HDMI cable so I'm going down that route.
I agree that if it is a half inch wide, its a different issue, mine is barely a pixel or two, just enough to be visible. |

| reply to andreseng Fios tech checking in, There is a way to fix the green line problem, you have to go into the installer mode for video settings, (power off, select, then menu), go to HDMI settings, not exactly sure what it says (not in front of tv right now) but the 2nd or 3rd option down will say format I think, you can change it from RGB to PrPbPy(?) and it will fix the green line issue |

| I tried this last night and the box just stared at me doing nothing. The remote light did not even blink when the box was shut of (when before the upgrade, it did) Is there some sort of timeout for this...or do i have to do it from the unit instead of the remote? |

| reply to ramslt8 Does this fix degrade the improved quality that HDMI is supposed to provide? Also, I'm getting a line down the left side, almost like an overlapping or like looking through the line of a glass of water. Does that fix that problem as well?
Thanks in advance |

| reply to andreseng It has not improved the degraded picture quality. It is a little off.... Interestingly enough, when I changed the color type to RGB in the setup menu, the green bar did go away, but it was replaced by a black band of the same width. In addition (i think someone mentioned here or the other thread) when my TV is in NATIVE, there is about an inch of the screen to the left that looks like something is missing. As if a slice of the picture was taken out and the piece furthest to the left was slid over to fill the gap. This is quite bizarre. |

1 edit | reply to OneEyedWonde Changing the STB's Color Space might be a good thing
I don't see the problem because I'm already on the RGB color space setting.
To make a long story short, changing the color space from YCC to RGB may be a good thing to do. I had a problem displaying the full range of contrast / brightness using HDNet's test pattern on my display. Changing to RGB fixed the problem. Just be aware that your STB is telling your display to do things a bit differently when it comes to contrast range. Only affects HDMI.
