Re: Firewall Poll 2008

I use my router and threatfire as most firewalls will zap what little resources I have on my puter.

Are there any benefits of using a software firewall behind a router firewall (SPI) ?

Thanks for the poll Owlbet.

Zone Alarm Free behind a Lynksys router but I'm hoping to switch to Online Armour when I finally get up the nerve to uninstall ZA.

Router and Outpost 4.0 with all the bells and whistles off.

Surprised to not see more using Outpost.

I'm behind a router and currently use Outpost 3 Pro, but I'm also planning on moving towards Comodo 3 once it seems mature. It's getting pretty close now, and worked quite well on my testing machine.

I have been using Comodo and it seems to do the job well.

I just wished that Sygate is still around before it got assimilated by Symantec.

Great poll!

XP firewall on my old Presario (running XP Home)
Vista firewall running on my newly acquired Gateway lappy

Both behind a NAT/SPI router.
Wireless running with WPA2-AES (aka. WPA2-Personal).

I'm still using Sygate Pro behind a router. By the way, any thing wrong with using unsupported firewall software like Sygate?

•2 XP computers and 2 Vista computers use the Windows Firewall
•3 XP computers use Zone Alarm Pro

all seven are behind a BEFSR81 router.
