Direct-Tv is going to bring this upon itself.. that is, a shrinking consumer base with this round of price increases.. let the backlash begin. Consumers who refuse to pay this round of increases won't be running to a wired provider, they will do without any provider"
We have already made that decision. Yes it's only $3-$5 per year but it has been happening every year. I remember when directv never raised rates and used it as a whipping post against cable how they were cheaper than cable. But then they bought every competitor and the yearly price increases began. If directv was the only thing going up it would be no problem. But everything else is also going up except wages and eventually you go broke. Recession here, economy going in the tank and prices go up. Not going to last long at that rate. Apparently the providers have come to the thinking that we cannot live without TV and the skys the limit. I am old enough to remember the days when receiving UHF required an optional tuner on top of the TV. It cost nothing to watch TV.
" When I first signed up the flat monthly cost of total choice was $41.99, now up to $52, damn."
I'll go you one better. We signed up the year directv went in business. The programming package then was $19.95. You purchased HBO from a different company called USSB for $10.95. No way I'm paying these kind of prices for junk programming and non stop commercials. Directv say goodbye to a 10 year customer. |

 | Plasma TV looks good with DTV My big screen likes DTV, yes a rate jump but worth it. I tried Comcast for TV and they have some mediocre Chanel's and then allot that are grainy. HD is very nice with Comcast but the contrast from HD to non HD huge. DTV is good on the regular Chanel's and awesome with HD. Plus DTV is cheaper. |
