said by BF69 :said by tiger72 :a single xbox live HD download already puts a user over the cap. True but how many 768 kbps users are going to do that? A single HD movie from XBOX live would take 18 hours to download. 768 kbps is for people like my mother who is 61 and doesn't download anything. Then 8 HD movie rentals a month (a very realistic 2 per week) will put a user over... Or 6 rentals + typical internet usage.
Looks like a ploy to kill viop, streaming video, HD downloads, and Steam.
Quite sad too, because M$ now provides a 4GB download of Vista, and Steam offers gigs of games to download - both legitimately.
If TW goes through this this, they'll effectively revert the cost of internet access to that of 1991. -- |- The LP »www.lp.org/issues/issues.shtml -| |- Cato @ Liberty »www.cato-at-liberty.org -| |- Ron Paul »www.ronpaul2008.com/ -| |

So what you are saying is that someone with a 768 kbs connection is actually going to wait 18 hours for their movie to download? They aren't going to use their connection for 18 hours straight? 8 HD rentals would take 144 hours or 6 days to download. I don't see how anyone under 5 Mbps would even consider using their connection to download HD content. |

I have a friend on Time Warner's local 768 plan and he just starts the movie download through the XBL Marketplace and goes to bed.
I admit, he's likely a unique case, but he does do it. |
